Keith Richards and a lot of other 60s freaks...

See sport pilot does have a purpose. Or maybe I could get an si with daily lsd use. Nah the feds are too square.

Keith Richards is still alive? And also one of the handsomest men in rock and roll.....

You are kiddin,, Right ???:dunno:

He has looked like death warmed over for 40 years...

Seriously, he looks the same now as when they filmed Hail Hail Rock and Roll when I was 20. He's a nice guy though.

...were right!

Acid for breakfast is a great idea!

:goofy:

Nothing really harmful about LSD. My cousin is in a coma on a ventilator after overdosing on legal synthetic marijuana last night. LSD for breakfast is nothing compared to the **** kids today are taking. He ODed on K2 Spice, whatever the hell that is. Was found on the side of the road, in 101 degree weather. His lady friend has severe burns from laying on the asphalt as well as her overdose situation.

Darwin gets a few more....:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:..

Ps.. Sorry for your loss...

Oh, he's an idiot and not creative enough to be a Darwin Award winner, just a run of the mill drug addict. He was just released from prison about 2 months ago for drug charges. Idiot. Dr says he's going to make it, last I heard they said he appeared to be breathing on his own and were contemplating removing the ventilator. He'll wake up. When he does, he's going to the big house for at least 12 years.

At the taxpayers expense.....:mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2:..

I will work a bit harder this week to cover his cost to society....:mad:

Keith Richards can't die. After the Zombie Apocalypse it will be up to him and Cher to produce offspring to repopulate the Earth.

It has nothing in common with marijuana, it's more like an SSRI.

I don't mean to go off topic. But your cousin needs help. Locking him up will not help but make matters worse. Have we learned nothing from the war on drugs. This person needs help. Prison is not the help he needs.

No, just like we've learned nothing as a result all the rest of the stupid stuff we've been doing as a country.

I don't mean to go off topic.

You can't go off topic by responding to a post that's already off-topic! ;)

This thread is about all the wonder health benefits of LSD!

LSD itself has never been especially dangerous. It's always been a promising drug for a variety of medical and especially psychotherapeutic purposes when used in controlled environments. I wasn't aware there was ever any doubt about that.

The dangers of hallucinogens in general have always been exaggerated, especially when you consider how many naturally-occurring ones exist for the taking. I have at least one species growing in my garden, perfectly legally, and I could easily find three or four more within a couple of miles. And mind you, I'm not even a drug user. If I were, I suppose I'd know of many more ways to get stoned on stuff that nature provides for free, within walking distance of my home.

Or I could just buy a pack of a fairly potent hallucinogen at the Dollar General store a mile away if I wanted to get stoned without having to traipse through forests and cow pastures to do it -- again, perfectly legally.

Hallucinogenic substances are everywhere, all around us, beyond the practical or statutory reach of law enforcement; and people who are inclined to use these substances do so on a regular basis. Somehow, the world hasn't ended yet.

And in related news of the week...

General Mills has announced that they are removing all artificial colors from their cereals.

Thus, acid may be the best way to restore all those brilliant colors to your bowl of Trix!

:goofy:

(Psst...Rich...send them to me if you're just going to let them go to waste!)

Just plant some Kratom in your yard, Guy that helps out with the rental houses showed up acting crazy. He was on Kratom.

You're a natural products chemist now?

THC:

Compound in synthetic marijuana:

Aside from a hydroxyl group and a couple of methyl groups, they look a lot alike to me. Most of the structure is common between the two compounds. Neither are SSRIs

 Must have been psychosomatic...
And you know this how?

K2 and the other over the counter "spice" products have changed formulas many times in the last 5 years to stay ahead of the law, they are not synthetic marijuana. Palm Beach County is the capital of production.

It certainly is called "synthetic marijuana". They've added some other stuff at times, but the major constituents are based on cannabinoid compounds. They aren't SSRIs as you mentioned earlier.

Also, most of the stuff is coming from overseas (https://www.whitehouse.gov/ondcp/ondcp-fact-sheets/synthetic-drugs-k2-spice-bath-salts). I've read that China and India are the major sources.

It seems that you are making up "facts" again.

BTW...I know something about this area...I wrote this: http://www.isco.com/WebProductFiles/Applications/101/Application_Notes/AN96_Cannabinoids.pdf

We sell equipment to the labs that make the SRMs (legally).

I'm still curious about how you know the neighbor was experiencing a "psychosomatic reaction"

I'm in no way shape form or fashion a chemist, but it seems like it would be exceptionally hard to OD on anything resembling marijuana? Cousin had to be airlifted, DEA seems to have a report on several people overdosing and even dying on it. My EMT buddy said that they pick up kids frequently who've messed themselves up on it.

There was a chemist doing legitimate research in this area, he was exploring endocannabinoid receptors for a variety of reasons. His name is John W. Huffman, which is why so many compounds have the JWH- prefix. These compounds are rearranged from natural marijuana compounds by adding, removing, and substituting atoms, and groups of atoms, on the molecule. As a results, some of his compounds are hundreds of times more potent than the natural product. There has also been work done targeting the same receptors from molecular models, generating indole compounds that are also more potent.

So....we have
-more potent compounds

-compounds that aren't purified very well

-the impurities may target other sites in the nervous system having a different molecular shape

-The new compounds haven't been tested for specificity, which means that they could act on sites in the nervous system other than those intended (the endocannabinoid receptors mentioned earlier)

-In addition, they sometimes add amphetamines, or other compound, to the "spice" mix to "improve" the high or to get a different market identity.

All of these combine to make something that is very much more dangerous than natural marijuana.

I used to work for Schering Plough, now Merck, and I found a few new compounds that were active and reasonably specific. The molecular modeling people and medicinal chemists would see how my compounds interacted with the proteins involved, and make compounds that acted the same way, but were more potent and specific, sometimes thousands of times more so. The "chemists" making these compounds don't have the resources of a large pharma company, but focus on the compound being related enough to make a high, but different enough to get around the law. I shudder at how they probably do their product testing.
