Hmmm... Jet moving in excess of 400 mph, bird flying along at 10-15 mph...
Thats like saying a person crossing a street and getting hit by a car actually "hit the car"....
Must have done some damage, though, if the flight crew felt it was not safe to bring the Mayor back to NY...

That's what I was wondering. I've had my share of bird strikes, took out a squadron of Mallards in Salt Lake early one morning on approach, hit a few seagulls and a bunch of non descript birds. I had a goose that went completely into the radome. Never had one damage the plane bad enough not to continue the trip.
