Does anyone think that paying homage to any person should cost this much? Read this article.

I wonder how much we as a nation spend on this sort of signage each year. I know that many cities have signs along the lines of "Welcome to Someplace, USA. Hugh Johnson, Mayor". These must be replaced every time there is a new mayor. Also many city streets not only have their real name but will also have an honorary name which results in two signs at each intersection rather than just one with the actual street name. There are many more examples of such signs. Seems like a big waste of money to me.

Kinda like "Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport"?

Be happy that it is John Glenn instead of another self serving elected official or scum bag celebrity.

Have they managed to remove John Wayne's name from the airport yet?

Y'all paid for signs for Pena Blvd leading to DEN via grants for the Interstate system, if you think John Glenn is bad. LOL. Thanks for the signs, though.

They're a great reminder of one of the worst mayors the city has ever had. His plan to use garbage trucks to "pack down snow" on side-streets instead of buying more snowplows is still legendary in these parts. Good old Fred.

I kind of liked just "Washington National Airport." George was a greater guy than anybody of late. Actually, the airport land it sits on was named for Herbert Hoover originally. Hoover wan't even yet president then, he was secretary of commerce (which was the department that reglated aviation then).

Huh? That's what I do to the snow in my driveway, instead of using a plow or snowblower. Of course it doesn't work when the snow is deep enough to high-center my car. :goofy:

Haven't found much use for "Guardrail Damage Ahead" signs ahead of some bridges. What exactly am I supposed to do with this information? Wait until the next bridge to slam into the guardrail, as that one will be in good repair?

I like "No Merge Area." Yeah, there's a merge area, it's just a bit more abrupt than you expected. What there isn't is an acceleration lane.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. I wondered this out loud to my girlfriend in the car a few days ago. I got the "You sure wonder about some off-the-wall things" reply. But, seriously - what are we supposed to do with that info?!

Every once and a while I see a sign that says "NO CENTERLINE." My wife usually then threatens me bodily injury if I make comments about her landings (usually, it's just a comment about the centerline being out of service).

"No Shoulder". Then go to the gym and get some.

Cheers
