At age 81 Joan Rivers has passed away....R.I.P.

What a life she had..

Joan was a pioneer. The TRUE feminist. Joan broke into an all male field and made it possible for all females who followed her.

Not the mouthy man haters that pretend to be feminists like Nancy Pelosi and Code Pink goon Jode Evans.

She is already missed. She had the balls to nail Obama before many others. She died being right.

She was a funny lady. Caustic, crude, not PC. I will miss her fashion critic shows. They were funny as it gets.

If they cremate her, she is going to melt all over everything.

First Robin Williams and now this. I really wanted to talk to her.....RIP. The world has become less funny in the last month in more ways than one.

I just saw her a few weeks ago here on long island. Still the same politically incorrect, offensive and unapologetic person she has been for years, funny as hell. She was the last of her kind unfortunaltey.

That scream you hear is Satan wondering what he did to deserve this.

Never did find her funny, even during the Johnny Carson years.

Don't doctors generally shy away from doing surgery on older people because of complications with older people and the anesthesia?

I have a feeling it was probably another plastic surgery.

That's the story but I don't buy it. But who knows. She was fun to watch and lived a very full life. May she RIP.

From Johnny Carson to Fashion Police - Loved her and loved it all. RIP

I don't get that, I would think at her age she should have had that done in a hospital.
Sedation is usually routine but occasionally it can bite you in the ass. My bias is that it should not be done outside of the hospital.

I will say this is one of the funnier and totally appropriate RIP threads! I didn't always find her funny but she was who she was and she had some great moments and was a pioneer of her world.

Or at least a clinic with operating-room quality conditions and equipment.

Wouldn't any surgery on her be considered plastic surgery?

Availability of the right personnell is as important as having all of the necessary equipment. It is important to have anesthesiology back up and occasionally a cardiologist might come in handy. You are far more likely to have all the necessary resources available in a hospital compared to a stand alone clinic.

Agree. That's what I meant by "conditions"

I wonder what she'll be wearing to her funeral?

They reported yesterday on the news that she had very specific funeral plans including a designer dress. I don't recall which designer, but I'm sure it's not from Target! :D
She was a funny lady!

It would be a Winston I'm sure.;)

Fresh Air on NPR today was a tribute to her, with recordings from multiple interviews with her. I walked out at lunch to run a few errands and then sat in my car to listen to the rest of it. A funny lady, and I appreciated a lot of her human side.

Glad she lived a long life. Ended up dying 2 blocks from my mom's apartment.
