Apparently happened after landing.

Shucks.... the engine, when running, always has a fire internally.
This is just an "uncontrolled" fire.

Being a United/United Express flight had nothing to do with it? :)

Too much fire with not enough air moving to blow it out, where it shouldn't have been burning

I say either a fuel line in the can or a hydraulic line busted when the reverser was triggered.

The scorching on the outside of the lower nacelle may also point to a fire in the accessory area. Could be a fuel, oil, or hydraulic leak, or could be a generator burning.

Looks like the evacuation was a little disorderly with that female passenger being where she is.

Where's that horse guy and his hot start garden hose when you need him?

She is upwind, not carrying a suitcase, and uninjured. Could be worse.

The man in the foreground, on the other hand, is strangely not looking at the fire. Is he taking a selfie?

"The started after the plane as on the ground, according to SkyWest Airlines."

Well put....

Anybody missing 9 quarters?

LOL. You win the Internet tonight.

And it's hard to throw them from the air stairs to the tail mounted engines, too.

You should have seen the arm on that old lady. She could have been an MLB pitcher if she were 40 years younger! :)

By the way, I went to the local news station's Facebook feed, knowing I shouldn't have, and started to read the comments on this engine fire photo from DEN.

I knew I shouldn't have. I think my IQ dropped 100 points just trying to fit in with the morons posting comments.

I was going to cut and paste some of the "best" ones but I can't.

They're all so stupid I can't even subject anyone to them for fear they'd have a seizure and lose their medical or pop a vessel from high blood pressure.

I'm pretty sure in the not too distant future, those posting will start believing that fire is caused by magic again, and only their favorite politician will have the secret spells to make fire.

Oh okay here's some.

The most repeated comment that makes me want to facepalm?

"Glad it happened on the ground instead of in flight!"

And then there's...

"I hope our airplane doesn't catch on fire."

"Isn't this the second United airplane to catch on fire lately? United needs to hang up their wings."

(Oh so much brain cell fail in that one, it's hard to not laugh. Haha.)

It gets better...

"I used to be a flight attendant! How scary!" (Beat. Head. Here.)

"Wonder if it was before takeoff or after landing?" (There's an Einstein for you...)

"Good thing it did not fly people could of died" (Should I even add the [sic] to that one?)

And ...

"[Tagged person] please tell me you were not on this plane!"

I knew I shouldn't have looked.

Repeat after me.. "Never read the comments"...

I bet they love to know that our engine fire checklist isn't a memory item. If it burns off before we get to Fire Bottle A(B) oh well! LOL

Hmm, looks like a flame-out to me.

That chick is hot!

Because of the fire, you misogynistic bastid. Fire = hot, chick near fire, therefore chick = hot. Ya see what I'm sayin cupcake?!?

It's just some people taping an ad for Nike shoes, nothing to see here, move along.

Cheers

So if you have a fire before you even start any checklist, what then? Let it burn? Lol

A surprising amount of people I've found assume the airplanes are built and manufactured by the airline... to them "United" is to Ford. I've asked relatively intelligent people what type of plane they flew on and the response more often than not is "It was a JetBlue plane" or something to that effect

No, I don't expect most people to know types, etc., but I would think most people know that airlines don't build the airplanes, they buy them from a manufacturer

Oh well.

These same people vote, mind you, and have a say in laws that govern you and me

Same people don't know the difference between an airline and an airport. We get all kinds of calls for the airline and people don't understand why I can't find their bag, book their trip, or check them in.
