I've got the Cessna on missile lock. This is only a drill.

[Chicago] ...the purpose of the early morning exercise was to hone pilots' abilities to intercept aircraft flying in restricted airspace.

"Basically we acted as if a general aviation aircraft wandered into restricted airspace. The pilot's job is to get the plane out of there. Usually this happens when a pilot is not aware, or they're not communicating to a tower. We'll scramble to find out what is going on," Scott said.

Scott didn't specify where the F-16s originated, but said in the event of any airspace violation, "We'd be there quick enough."

Bull pucky, the USAF only wants us to think it was F-16. It was really UFOs figuring out what the path to the Obama's Chicago house is! We all know that there is no way Chi-App gives anyone but UAL, AA, Delta, etc clearance into Chicago airspace.

It's likely to be an F-16 out of Madison, WI. they are right next to our hangar, and they added live ammo storage a couple of years ago. They do scheduled partol flights in the area. I can see them takeoff around noon everyday from my window at work.

Anybody have any idea, even just round numbers will do ,of the amount of $$$ the US would save if it just stopped playing these illusion of security games just domestically. Don't bring Iraq or Afganastan into this, just the domestic money wasters. Anyone have a reasoanble guess? Anybody? Bueller?

TSA's budget for 2008 was $6.4 billion - and that's just TSA, and doesn't include any of the border/immigration/ICE stuff.

Members of the Secret Service have been conducting exercises in helicopters over Chicago in preparation for President Barack Obama's visit Thursday, officials said today.

Gee, it sure would be nice if Chicago had, say, Meigs Field for this sort of thing.

5 helicopters creating a dust storm (the baseball diamonds' dust blew throughout Lincoln Park and created a serious traffic hazard on Lake Shore Drive ... you've got loads of Chicago Fire Department vehicles on the scene ... any of them could have dampened down the baseball diamonds.

...

I was going to tell Pete to get back to work except for that last part.

Didja notice that now that we have the fancy anti-terrorism badges that keep us from blowing up airliners, that they took the jersey barriers that were between us and the military portion of the ramp away? We have WIDE OPEN ACCESS to the F-16's now! Horrors!

(I hope they don't shoot us...)
