I stick with bourbon unless my wife is around (not really, I drink JD. That is not bourbon).
She makes me drink beer. But I'm allowed to drink good beer.

We used to sell it at the local grocery store, but it got clearenced out. If you can get Jefferson reserve, it's very good.

That's true... there are many micros but they may not be common to all of us seeing as though we are from different parts of the country.
My everyday beer was once (and probably still technically is) a micro.
Sam Adams. Boston Lager, Octoberfest, Winter Lager. At times they have a good IPA also.

Yes it was marked down and I bought too fifths. It was my favorite aside from macallan scotch, which I only get when I feel like treating myself. I miss it, that bottle was sweet too.

Okay, you're alright. Not a big fan of Boston Lagar or any IPA but just about any Sam Adams product can be found in my beer cooler at all times. Their Porch Rocker Ale is okay, a little lemony but good. Octoberfest is probably my favorite.

Cool thing about the Blantons bottles is the pewter cork. Each one has a letter and a horse and rider. Spell out "Blantons" and it depicts a horse race. I finally spelled it out last fall.
 
I am currently drinking a bourbon (mixed with soda). It actually tastes more like a scotch. I don't know what the bourbon is because it's a free happy hour.

I never knew that, both mine have a b on them. I thought it was supposed to be colonel Blanton. That's really cool

Lagunitas IPA
Lagunitas Lil Sumpin
Saint Archer White Ale
Einstok
Ballast Point California Kolsch
But really any beer...

For wine I find that the Apothic Reds or all really good... And if we're going to go to the hard stuff that I'll take a Don Julio or a Lagavulin. Neat
 
I drink the kind of bourbon and scotch that I'd never ask someone back to my house if they put anything more than a very small ice cube in it.
 
The trouble with bourbon is that they are required to age it in new barrels.

After that, they sell the used barrels to Scotland and Ireland. Which helps them make a smoother product than what came out of the same barrel the first time.

Boston Brewing is the largest American owned brewery in the US. Not even close to a microbrewery. They brew more in a day than the limit of what defines a microbrewery. Definitely a decent brewer, although there's much better out there nearly everywhere now.

Perhaps, but I grew up when they were a micro.

Plus, as you can see I said "technically" is.
This was actually told to me be a beer guy last night (beer sommelier??) what ever you call it.

Regardless, I don't care. I love Sam, and I grew up in CT which was one of the few places you could get it for many years.

Bottom line- It's still a great beer.

There seems to be some debate whether the Vesper is his favorite and whether he drinks shaken-not-stirred vodka martinis out of necessity.

Well, this totally legit (sarcasm) association says the Boston Beer Company (Samuel Adams) is a "small," "independent," "craft brewer" because they're under the totally reasonable level of 6 million barrels per year. ;0

Laphroig - dirty sulfur based grease and burning electronics with essence of Goodyear. I used to hate the stuff, now my palate has changed and I like it. Can't find any other peaty scotch I like better.

I used to hate coleslaw (love it) and mac & cheese (like it), too. Slow growing brain tumor I think.

Shaken, not stirred (and vodka martinis) are modern Bond nonsense. Bond isn't a big drinker, when he is "concentrating", he limits himself to one - but he wants it to be large, very strong, very cold, and very well made.
Bond does say he hates small portions, particularly when they taste bad - so I don't think a Vesper is a "favorite" at all...

I like Laphroaig too. Karen's rather apt description of it was, "It tastes like leftover WWI bandages." She's obviously, not a fan. ;)

I had 3 20oz Blue Moons tonight after work. I love Blue Moon. So tasty.

Hard liquor I am a girl and go for vodka cranberry. Stoli is my choice of vodka... unless I see Chopin on the wall, which is never. Potato vodka is so much better.
 
Beer, winter: Founders Porter, Le Fin Du Monde
Beer, summer: BLL and PBR
Beer, anytime: a good hoppy IPA
Bourbon: Knob Creek Single barrel reserve (better), Four Roses yellow label (everyday table whiskey)
Rum: Mount Gay Eclipse
Irish whiskey: Jameson Black Barrel

Drink beer long enough in your life and you'll eventually graduate to good IPAs.

Green Flash Brewery's West Coast IPA, or a local Virginia fav: Devil's Backbone Brewery's Eight Point IPA.

(my long standing and likely premalignant esophagitis no longer allows me the pleasures of Bourbon or cigars, alas)

Gin? No thanks.
Bourbon? Maker's Mark (yeah this is OK), Woodford Reserve is the other one I get
Tequila? No thanks.

You alcoholics are so picky about your drinks. Errr, you alcohol connoisseurs are so picky about your drinks.
 
I recently decided to try drinking some Brandy to get a taste for it. Man that's more than a fair bit different then what I've had. Definitely an "after dinner" drink like Cognac.

When in Wisconsin, I always have 1 Brandy Old Fashioned Sweet with Brussels Sprouts.

When I worked in WI in the 90's they told me it was almost a law to drink that vile crap. I've complied ever since. As an aside, I like Brussels Sprouts more at 51yo than I did at 11yo. I don't credit that to the brandy ;)

Brussels sprouts: Lightly boil in chicken broth, drain. Into the skillet, brown in (real) bacon bits and bacon grease, add golden raisins. Yum!
