I used to work 5 minutes from LAL and went to Sun-N-Fun each year. i saw this plane each year. I heard it fly by once but did not actually see it in the air. He even used tackle boxes to house the radios on the front bench seat in the boat. The workmanship was pretty good, too.

55 would be ok if stall was 35 or 40. The 100 FPM (if that's right) climb rate is too scary, though. That eliminates a lot of mountain lakes, lakes with big hungry trout in them.

A seaplane rating is on my serious bucket list. The last couple visits to Oshkosh I got a chance to go to the seaplane base - what fun!
