Everything Offends Me
Rememberance time.

So - ever since the TSA was formed, doesn't everyone feel safer?

Every time I go through airport security, I think to myself "we are losing". It's depressing.

Anyway, I was in Jersey City last friday night, and there was a great view of downtown Manhattan from where we were. It was a bit hazy, so the lights were a little more visible than usual. I didnt take this pic; it's from another forum.

Funny, the only reaction I remember having was not "I need to be safer!" but rather "Go get those ------!"

Honestly, I don't really see the point except for explosives. Other weapons are pretty much useless unless the plane is empty. The rules changed that day. It used to be that people would hijack a plane, get the pilots to take them where they wanted to go, and most if not everyone would be okay. After 9/11, we realized that wasn't the case anymore. I would hope that passengers would react accordingly if someone was stupid enough to try to hijack a plane today.

I miss my towers, I want them back.

I hate the TSA, let's send them to the nations harboring terrorists, and go back to the old days when I could get on the plane with my pocket knife and more than 3 oz of toothpaste.

Amen. I said from the day after, the biggest f$#* you we could send to the terrorists would be to rebuild them like they were. Offset the footprint for a memorial, but otherwise, rebuild them, restore the skyline, and let's show them what resilience is. Instead we get this mess for the last 8 years and a tower that won't be complete for probably another decade at the least.

And they still haven't even started construction on the site. Had it been me, I would have put them right back up the way they were as quickly as possible. Can't think of a better memorial.

Me too, though I'm far from them now.

I watched them going up walking down Belleville Avenue to school each day. (IIRC one was up alot sooner than the other).

We started and ended an MS century ride from the WTC site on our Tandem on September 10th, 2000. I leaned the bike against a corner of the South Tower when we were done.

Construction is happening. One World Trade Center has extended above street level. Slowly but surely.

Make that "we've lost" and I agree. But you're close enough.

I was getting ready to go to work in SA that day and heard something about a plane hitting the WTC. My first thought was that some GA plane had screwed up the Hudson Corridor - until I turned on the TV and saw pictures. 4 days later I was on a commercial flight to Chicago for a meeting in the Sears Tower - the entire cabin was eerily quite.

I just walked past the conference room and looked out over the Pentagon. Before he retired, my dad worked in the Pentagon on the side that was hit.

I just had a strange thought.

You think another ten years from now kids will assume we made the emergency phone number 911 due to the 9/11 attack? :dunno:

I can pre-author a snopes article.

Just start a rumor on the internet. I will soon become a fact.

hehe.

Love xkcd. A lot of it consists of obscure references, but much of it is simply intelligent, witty humor.

Here is one somewhat relevant:
