Is AOPA worth it?

AOPA. Magazine often finds the garbage can fairly quickly compared to the EAA mag.... which rarely does.

I'm the opposite. I enjoy AOPA's rag. EAA seems to always be six months of telling me how great OSH was followed by six months of talking about how great OSH will be.

:lol::rofl:....

The EAA does tend to do that....:D

I spoke with a AOPA guy at Reno.

Long and short, they do good things, but they ain't hurting for money.

I'm not a member, though I had insurance through them then switched to AVEMCO as they were cheaper and more direct.

Don't really need the title search as I can read the FAA CD myself, I've heard some hit or miss info about their legal services.

I support what they do, I just don't give them any money.

*** Side note, if you remove your address from the airmans database you don't get all the crap from them in the mail.
Thanks for the info, regarding airmans db, are you talking about?

I'm not in the DB, so I must be doing something right :D

No not to me. Im not sure AOPA was every worth it?

I quit before they raised their rates to what they are now which is truly exorbitant.

I've not belonged to AOPA for a 5 years. Although AOPA seems to be upping its game it seems that it starts out with a very high entry fee and then if you actually want a service from them they double the price.

Now their model is to completely feed of its membership and their creativity in finding numbers of ways to get more money from same grows continuously.

I have never bought aopa insurance as brokers have always found me significantly cheaper insurance from the same people aopa use (when I have bought insurance for both the Cherokee and the Comanche).

I believe AOPA is exploitative of its membership and will never learn.

Ignoring the advocacy/magazine, what about the services they provide?
Have you used the sponsored insurance, finance, or title services?
TIA

More or less, but that website you linked to is using a VERY OLD database, at least 4 years old

This is where you want to look for current info

https://amsrvs.registry.faa.gov/airmeninquiry/

I had to send a email for them to remove my address from the public database.

AOPA just mass mails out to everyone on there.
