I already have the IGI certificate.

Having just passed the AGI written test, when filling out IACRA for that, is the AGI considered an add-on to my IGI, or is it an original issuance?

add on because you are adding an advanced rating to a ground instructor certificate.

Correct. You have an existing ground instructor certificate with instrument privileges. You're adding on Advanced privileges.

I did it in reverse, adding on IGI to AGI.

How was the test? What'd you use to study?

Used King Schools course to study. A bit dated and corny but, at least for me, effective. Take the AGI and FIA (flight instructor airplane) at the same time as they are basically the same test from what I've heard.

They're similar, but not the same. Some questions are in both test banks but there are enough different questions that I'd suggest studying for both tests.

The Sheppard Air test prep is good for the instructor writtens.
