iReel Toyota's Answer To Segway

I think the Segway is superior, not that it is any great shakes either. Until they do stairs, they are not there yet. A very good operator on a Segway can do limited stairs.

This looks a bit more like a motorized wheelchair.

I'm not sure it's superior. The one to watch for is this strap on set of legs and rump socket that walks like Osimo. That is the cool wheelchair replacement tech and they are driving direct from a neural connection! Amazing rig.

How can this be the answer to Segway, when Segway was still looking for a question?

Please explain. I am confused about the terms "rump socket" and "neural connection" I assume the socket is more user friendly than the initially proposed plug. :dunno:

That looks dangerously close to the chairs that shuttled people around in the ship on Wall-E. (yes I have a five year old and have seen that movie countless times).

By 'rump socket' I mean a piece that mechanically serves the function of a pelvis but is constructed as a seat to strap your rump to. The reason I don't call it a seat is that in the standing position it was vertical and held you from the legs and belt into the form.

By neural connection I mean it picks up impulses directly from nerves rather than from small unrelated muscle motions that other prosthesis use. It was really interesting.
