So, if you're getting one of them, what are your thoughts?

Although I'd like the battery life of the 6+, it's just so damn big!

I think I'll go for the 6.

6+ ....better backup for ForeFlight AND has image stabilizer for camera.

Agreed, but I am questioning the practicality of carrying a device that size day in and day out for non-aviation use.

As I said in another thread, I'll have to see and handle them both in person to decide.

The 6 seems on the surface to be in a "sweet spot" - not too small and not too big.

But with aging eyes, the larger screen may hold it's own appeal - and almost eliminate the need for my iPad Mini in the cockpit.

I'm going for the 6+. I don't mind the size. It's just going to take getting used to coming from an iPhone 5.

I want to order one but afraid I will get the wrong one, when will they be in the stores to touch and hold? I want to make sure whichever one I get will have a better platform for Texting, I hate the current set up on the 5, I have so many misspelled words from my uncoordinated fingers.

iPads getting smaller...iPhones getting bigger. Soon they'll merge into one.

I've already patented the Velcro glove that's made to handle the larger Phones. The back of the phone is covered with loops...the glove is covered with hooks. It's the cat's meow for talking on phones the size of my first TV.

:goofy:

Waiting to actually play with the phone, leaning towards the 6+ ,like the longer battery life. Also have old eyes in an old body. Big I pad ,big phone.

plus is too big. I need my phone to still function as a phone. I'm very happy they left the option for smaller. I've repaired my 4S about as many times as i think is possible.

The biggest one that fits comfortably in my pockets.

Does anyone know if their watch will have a vibrating alarm? Or perhaps one that gives a small electric shock. :hairraise: Without my hearing aids, I can't hear a sound alarm.

I think they are both to big.
I like to carry my phone in my pocket. My 4S fits nicely.
I use my phone as a phone and have a tablet to use if I want something bigger.

My 5S is already too big for my pocket, I often have to wear a vest or jacket just to carry it. Not interested in anything bigger, though faster might be nice.

I'm worried that in an armored case the standard 6 won't fit in a shirt pocket so I might upgrade to a 5S from my bricked 4.

My phone is an Android phone so it makes no difference to me at this point. My youngest son is a huge Microsoft fan and he posted this in response to someone on FB.

The largest new iPhone has a smaller screen than my 1520 and only saves 1.5mm of thickness. Oh and my 1520 has wireless charging and a microSD expansion port as well. Not so on the iPhone 6 Plus. And did I mention that my 1520 has a 20MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics?

I know for most of us here Apple products are used because FF doesn't work on a MS device.

6+ for me. foreflight will be better and it's not much bigger than my current GS4.

Gonna be a plus for me. It will run FlyQ EFB and almost eliminate me using my iPad 2 in the cockpit. Almost...

I'd love the 6+. It was a gloomy day when my Galaxy Note died and I replaced it with the Blackberry Z10. I'm getting old and have fat fingers and bad eyes. So I like the larger screen. If the ipad had a built-in phone I'd carry one of those around.

Now I have to ask about phone holsters. Until the other day I didn't realize I was the only one in the state to still use one. Everyone has gone to carrying their phones in their pockets. This would seem uncomfortable to me and would scratch the hell out of the phones. I know the holsters aren't cool with the kids, but still.

I figure by the time my phone is too beat up, its time to replace anyway. I go sans cover, in my left front pocket, screen in toward my leg. Keys and change in the right front pocket. It's not too bad, really. My pants pocket protects it pretty well from most scratches. To me, this is a phone, not jewelry. So a nick here or there isn't heartbreaking. The problem is that my phone has the broken power button issue, so it's always on and I can't put it in sleep mode instantly. As a result, I tend to pocket dial a lot. Looking forward to a new phone. Not sure if I want the 6 or 6+. I am leaning toward the 6 though. If I want bigger, I can grab my I pad.

or... You could save your money and be happy with what you have :)

I generally am, which is why I don't upgrade at every release. I go several releases before I feel the need. After a while, the software needs the upgraded processor to keep working smoothly. But in this case, given the broken power button, and my now increased need for memory, its time. (Foreflight + too many pictures and videos of the new kiddo)

Right now I'm leaning towards a 6. I'll test each both out at the Apple store and decide then.

I do want the watch! Imagine the integration with ForeFlight! :D

I just upgraded to a 5s, and it's as big as I want. I knew I wouldn't want the 6, just too big for a phone. If I need something slightly bigger I'll get an Ipad mini. But presently my 5s and Ipad 4 work out fine for me.

The new iPhones can be preordered on September 12, and available on September 19. If it's like last time, the stores will sell out of the new iPhones within seconds of the doors opening, but they will probably have dummy phones for you hold.

The Apples watches will be available sometime next year. So don't buy that Moto360 watch for Christmas!

Hopefully you'll like it for a long time because they're not making any more that size. I couldn't consider going to the small screen of the iPhone after having used "normal" sized Droids for so long. Now I can consider them. The market has spoken.

If you have an Apple Store near you I suspect they'll be there shortly, if they don't already have demos on display.

Forget the Apple phones. Both HTC and Samsung have faster, bigger, more sophisticated products right now. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is a 5.7 inch wonder of tech, and the smart watch has been out for over a year.

I've had my 4G for about four years. Who knows what will be out after another four.

As long as they don't make my 5 painfully slow to use with the new iOS update, I don't feel compelled to run out and upgrade.

Now if they'd start making more clothing with pockets large enough here's what I'd want: a device the size of my ipad mini and a watch linked to it. When someone calls me, I take my watch off and it acts as a handset... imagine the watchband as a mic boom. Tablet device stays in my pocket until I need a screen for something.

They'll be in stores on the 19th. Preorder is this Friday.

I am getting a 6 plus, for the added split screen abilities. I am excited to see what fore flight and flyq do with the space.

I was looking at the info on the new 6 at the apple stone web site and could not find where it said it had Split Screen capability. Cool if it does.

I did see it has an M8 motion coprocessor that has a Barometer. Foreflight should be able to do a lot with that.
