Can anyone recommend a good yoke mount for the iPad2? I've seen prices anywhere from $23 to nearly $100. In some cases it's hard to tell exactly what's being sold, whether it's just a cradle or a cradle plus a ball-and-socket mount. I do have a mounting bracket that currently has a homemade map/chart holder glued to it, but there's no way to tell from any of the pictures I've seen how any of the iPad cradles attach to the mounting bracket so I'm not sure I'll be able to use it for this purpose.

Anyway, suggestions would be appreciated.

I've got the RAM yoke mount in my Cardinal. I have it set with the iPad in portrait position, and it almost fits between the "horns" of the yoke. It does block the view of the lower row of instrument gauges, but I can lean forward (!) to see them.

Those photos in the other thread look like a Piper.

The problem I am having is that anything I put on the yoke tube ends up interfering with the adjustment knob on the DG. I tried that style, put when I boxed the controls I bent (slightly) the DG knob.

Has anyone found anything that has a really low profile, or (ideally) hooks to the yoke itself? I think I'll have to fab something up to do that.

During my recent training with Jesse, the iPad blocked the suction gauge and I ended up (after touting the greatness of the RAM mounts in past posts), tossing the RAM mount in the back and putting the iPad on my lap.

I may have a RAM mount for sale soon.

I use a shorter arm (The tubular piece that connects the yoke clamp to the iPad bracket) so that the yoke clamp attaches to the yoke tube closer to the yoke. That keeps it from interfering with anything on the panel.

No dice. The clamp is sight against the yoke. I event took everything off to make sure it was the clamp that was catching, not something other component.

I have the old style "bow tie" yokes, I don't know if the old tubes were sorter, or if the yoke sits deeper onto the tube, or what. But the clamp is incompatible with the panel.

Unless it ends up sitting a LOT higher than my yoke-mounted chart box, the only instruments the iPad will block in my airplane are engine instruments that my JPI does a better job than anyway. So I went for the GPSCity RAM mount. I took a close look at my current mount today and couldn't tell if it was RAM or not, but it looks different from the ones I've seen pictures of and I couldn't be sure the RAM iPad cradle would be compatible with it, so I decided to bite the bullet and buy the whole thing. I've flown with the iPad on my lap and in the right seat and I really don't like having to move my head to read something when I'm under the hood.

And here is how it worked out. The only way I could figure out to mount it, it sits a little low and too vertical. But mounted any other way, it blocks my view of important instruments, so it'll have to do unless I can figure out some way to mount it more horizontally.

It was a little crooked in the second picture. My camera battery died just as I was trying to take a picture of it after I had straightened it out.

Yup - That's why I got the "barbell" and an additional arm - So I have the shortest arm and the medium arm, those plus the barbell just about equals the length of the long arm but lets me go "around the corner" on the 182 yoke. I also have both the clamp and a suction cup mount - With that variety of parts, I can make it work in the two vastly different airplanes (182 and DA40) that I fly most often.

Here's mine:

I have the cradle mounted upside down, with the clip at the bottom. That puts the iPad's home button at the top.

And an inflight view without the ipad, showing how much of the panel it blocks:
