I’ve always warned against having unsecured items on your lap, or anywhere, really while flying. A sudden bit of turbulence can send things flying, at the very least causing a distraction and possibly even jamming or breaking something.
I love my new iPad Air 4, but really couldn’t find any way to easily mount it in the tight confines of the Sky Arrow. But unsecured in my lap didn’t appeal either. So...
My iPad mount already has a RAM ball attached - I use it to watch videos when stationary cycling and the like. I had an old, worn RAM suction cup that no longer held suction. That, combined with a 1” arm lets me wedge it under my legs so I can safely use it on my lap with no fear of it going flying in turbulence.
Haven’t tried it in flight yet, but seems like it should work.
Edited to add: Not sure how or why the lower photo got flipped left-to-right, but you get the idea.
