I had a check ride with a DPE that was known for "failing" iPads mid flight...so during oral I did not even turn the thing on and did everything 100% paper. Fired up the iPad in flight with backup live on iPhone and DPE never said a word other than I had to turn off Geo Referencing for one of the approaches. They want to know your are proficient with or without it.
