Just curious if anyone has ever had a fuel pump for an IO-550 overhauled? How much did it cost and how long did it take? I just had mine done and am floored with how much it set me back!

any reason for OH vs IRAN (Inspect, Repair, As, Necessary)?

I wasn't told there was an option. It was sent in because it had sat for 17 years and my diagnosis was that the low speed bypass wasn't working properly. Most likely from a dried out o-ring or diaphragm. It only had 68 Hrs total time since new.

I've heard the starter adapters are a joy to work on as well as expensive.

IRAN the fuel pump. What they find as bad they will replace.

Starter adapters - they are not that bad to overhaul. Get the parts from aircraft specialties. I have rebuilt much worse. There is a technique for the spring that makes the job much easier.
