3.What defines your group of pilots?

4. How do you feel portrayed as a pilot?

6. What do you want others to know about being a pilot?

If you answered these questions thank you so much.

Interviewing Pilots

Hello I'm a high-school student taking composition and I am required to interview 4-5 pilots for a subcultures assignment. If you could answer these questions thank you.

Might want to review basic grammar and spelling. Also, not all pilots earn their livings in airplanes. Are you seeking professional pilots only? All pilots? ATPs? Some other subset?

While there are some professional pilots on this forum, most of the members fly their own planes privately for their own business or pleasure. Your questions seem to take for granted that respondents will be professional pilots so you may find more and better responses on a different forum, one that is comprised mostly of pros.

I also suggest that you use a survey tool such as https://www.surveymonkey.com/welcom...NvKPxuiQ-abX5vRN3OAaAi3PEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds so that respondents can maintain anonymity.

Finally, I concur with @2-Bit Speed . If this is for a class in English composition, your English needs improvement. Proper capitalization, punctuation, and phrasing matter.

I appreciate the concern for my grammar but i had to write fast and on my phone since my computer blocks any forums. I am sorry for not specifying what type of pilots, i am not familiar with different types of pilots myself. Mainly i am looking for people who fly planes for their paycheck although, any input would help add to my essay i have to write.

Also i did not write these questions myself i was given a list of around 20 to choose from and i chose the least “weird sounding” ones. i didn't want to ask if you feel stereotyped as a pilot or anything.

Yes i am sorry about my grammar. My computer blocks any forums leading me to write on my phone as-well having to rush since the end of the period was approaching.

I was not aware that many people flew planes as a hobby but it sounds interesting! The essay i am writing is about aviation in general so professionally or not, any feedback would help me add to my essay.

It would take me more time than I have to correct all the lazy mistakes you made in that post. Are you sure you're in high school?

Then you may want to find out before conducting your survey.

Alright thank you for your input.

You really should set this up using a secure survey tool. I won’t respond if the survey isn’t secure and confidential.

ok i didn't think of that. I only have until Friday to finish this so im stopping by the local airport tomorrow.

Easy now @2-Bit Speed, probably public school

Op, I might suggest posting this on https://www.reddit.com/r/flying/s/xnr3cU68HK

I am but a lowly private pilot that flies for fun when I can/want to. But question 3 is very oddly phrased and I have no idea how to answer that if I was a commercial/atp
Yes, sorry for the odd questions. I was not able to choose my own questions. We were given a list of around 20 questions and filled in “subculture” with our choice of occupation or subculture.

Yes lol it is public school… and a horribly funded one on top of that.

I am a recreational pilot.

1. I had a regular non-aviation job and retired. I now have more time for fun flying and am more accepting of delays due to weather or mechanical issues.

2. I own my own. I belong to a local club that is part of a bigger org - EAA.

3. Flying because we love it.

4. I think people think we are rich. I drive an old car and saved and invested money so I can fly and buy.

5. I love introducing people to flying. I also fly volunteer flights for animal rescue through Pilots-n-Paws.

6. I think many people can become pilots. It’s not too hard. It takes dedication to study, persevere, and focus saving and spending on flying.

All the best kid. Don’t get put off by some of these old cranks. I get cranky when I haven’t flown in a while too. Go to your local airport and ask for a Discovery Flight - it’s about $100 and you will get to sit in the pilot seat and fly (yes, hands on for much of the flight). If you can’t afford it, ask for it as a present for the holidays or your birthday. Also, look up Young Eagles as an intro flight.

Are you sure you’re an adult?
