When we bought our home the hangar had a Schweiss bi-fold door, but I had it replaced with a Horton stack door because I needed the full vertical clearance. At the time I did not opt for the insulation, but the doors face west and in the afternoon in the summer it gets over 100 degrees in the hangar.

I love the Horton, but I am considering adding insulation. I'm not sure what kind of foam board to use nor how to attach it. I'm also concerned with what it would look like from the outside.

Have any of you insulated a Horton stack door?

Thanks,

I don't know how this door looks on the inside. For my Schweiss, I just cut 2" rigid eps to fit between the structural parts and glued it in with construction adhesive.

Thanks for the prompt reply, flyingron. My concern is that since the outer panel of the door is translucent fiberglass, the adhesive might show from the outside.

Mine's mostly press fit. You might be able to just glue the edges that hit the structure. Alternatively you could mount some sort of clips to hold them in place.
