Hi All,

I recently passed my FOI and AGI, looking to take the IGI next. After doing a decent amount of research I cannot find any prep or guide that walks through the material covered on the IGI. Gleim and ASA seem to only have the AGI material listed. SheppardAir does have this but id rather do a prep program than teaches the material than rely so much on rote. I think SheppardAir should be the second step in my study after i have an understanding rather than the first step.

Also, I am waiting to study, take and pass the IGI before i take my FOI and AGI results to the FDSO so I only have to make one trip, would you all do this as well? Or would you take it to them ASAP? i know they are valid for 24 months.

So far i only have my PPL for VFR flying but i thought while i am starting to jump into IFR i might as well get the IGI to study up before formally starting training. I'd rather go into training prepared.

Thanks!!

The IGI scope is the same as the regular Instrument Rating test except that it's not specific to a particular class (i.e., you may see helicopter questions). You can study for both exams at the same time.

What Ron said -- I used the IR prep software for the IGI. Worked fine. Also, combined AGI and IGI into one trip to the FSDO. Glad I only went once -- that place was depressing.
