Incredible model Saturn V rocket launched

Great job... I love how the main section just sat down upright on contact, and stayed put!

I never got into the big or high-power stuff, but I did build an Estes Saturn 1B kit for a friend when I was a kid (he loved rocketry but was all thumbs), and it also launched and recovered successfully. It's a great feeling, especially with bigger rockets that take a lot of effort to build.

That's the best video of the three. What's next, actual multiple stage 1/10th scale model? Impressive how the launch tower was moved.

I think he was saying "2000 feet" which doesn't seem like a lot, but kudos anyway. I guess if he really had 5 magilla engines....

No, he was saying "2000 feet" as it was descending through 2000 feet. Stats are as follows:

Apogee: 4,441'
Acceleration: 7 G's
Max Velocity: 450mph (this seems a little high at first glance, but I haven't run the calculations to check it yet...)
Motors: 8 N's and one P

Picked up a NOTAM for "unmanned rockets up to 5,000" 1 mile west of boston vor. First time for everything.

last december when my wife and I flew from Wings (LOM) to Easton MD (KESN), there was a rocketry NOTAM issued. I double checked with the briefer that I heard it right, and marked it on my sectional. We avoided the area on the way down, and didn't see anything at the time. Glad we did,... what a sight that would be seeing a SAM comming at the C172! Evasive manouvers!!!!

We get the NOTAMs all the time. Some rocket club launches every weekend from "Bong Air Force Base" that was never finished, now the Bong Recreational Area in southern Wisconsin near Burlington.

I won't mention when I was student soloing and I circled that area wondering what all those people by the cars down there were doing. :yikes:
