Back (?) to serious considerations:
- if you're going to be using it just around the house, consider an electric - much lighter, just as torquey.

I've both electric and gas - if cord length allows, I grab the electric.
If going gas, recommend Husqvarna
 
I got an electric one and it also comes with an extension pole so I can cut things way up high over my head. That seems like a good idea.
 
Last time I trimmed my crape myrtles I fell off a ladder and broke my shoulder. Chainsaws seemed well like a different outcome is possible
 
+1 on electrics if you have power, they have way more torque and turn slower making them cut better and the chains don't dull near as fast, My Little Remington limb trimmer will cut as fast or Faster than my Mac 10. And any other gas chain saw I have used, I have burned one up, but it was probably 5 years old I was really abusing it. I promptly bought another. Would recommend a Mcculloch Electric if you going to be using it much.

Keep a Stihl in the baggage compartment. If you drift into trees under canopy, at least you can cut yourself down.

The electrics work fine if you have power. It sounds like you do and you don't need anything significant. We have a 20" Jonsered (rebadged Husqvarna) with a 55cc or so 2-stroke, which I use for everything from trimming bushes to chopping down 100 year old oaks. When we got married, Laurie had a 14" Poulan which is a complete POS and won't even start.

When you get a gas saw in 20 years, get a good brand. Stihl, Husqvarna, or Jonsered are all good. Poulan is crap.
 
My Stihl is over thirty years old! Told the guy at the hardware store I was thinking of getting a new one, and he just said, "why would you?" He's right, no real reason to.
 
Love my Stihl. 25 years and counting. Broke my chainsaw-on-a-stick electric about 6 months after I got it.
 
They need constant sharpening. Buy some really good sharpening equipment.

Oh my God oh my God oh my God. I put an ad on Craigslist asking for someone to help me haul this stuff away. A guy just showed up in a minivan. He has no trailer he has nothing to tie the branches down to the van. He's just loading everything on top of his car and planning on driving away very slowly. I will be uploading videos soon. I keep trying to talk him out of it. But he's dead set thinking he can do this.

The biggest gripe with small engines is them sitting for extended periods...

100L is much more stable and my stihl tools / toys never have trouble.
