In Chicago 11/20 to 12/5

You guys have fun. I used to go to RSNA every year back when I had a real job. Always had to leave the day after Thanksgiving.

I did like the BBQ joints near the downtown hotels.

Almost wish I could be there.

Joe

I'll have a rental car, so I can shuttle people around if necessary...

You may change your mind when you see what it costs to park in the city. Expect parking in River North to be $15-$25. Duh Mare's city has a massive tax on the fee.

Yeah I know just too well. Luckily, I don't pay for my parking :)

Grant,

What time tomorrow will you be picking me up, if you still want to drive?

Directions to my office:
HEad east on Algonquin, enter at the first entrance ont eh right. Go to the center guard shack and tell them you are heading towards IL01 to pick someone up. They will let you in, they may ask for my name but usually they are not that particular.

Then head straight tot he 2nd stop sign, turn left and then right towards the 12 story building.

Best to meet me at door 51.

I have arrived in Chicago. Overwhelmed by the size of this convention. Also the prices. Spent $2.75 for a banana for breakfast before learning my company is providing free breakfast & lunch for employees. Otherwise, just loving it.

Try buying a soda downtown at 7-11 or White Hen (where it still ain't cheap) and smuggle it in rather than paying $4.50 at McCormick Place.

Leslie and I were stuck overnight in PHL and are waiting for the inbound plane to land so we can get back to ORD. We're still planning to come tonight, barring really bad weather. Scott's working from home, so we won't be picking him up. Leslie'll be coming with me. Felix is in Ames. Is he going to make it back in time for dinner tonight? I have NOT made reservations yet. If someone else could make that phone call, I'd appreciate it.

I'll make it. Are we still meeting at 7?

We stopped for lunch on the way home, so just arrived home. 28 hours after leaving for the MIA airport from Ft. Lauderdale. Frankly, I'm debating whether to do the drive downtown tonight. Still need to do some laundry and just relax. OTOH, I am really looking forward to getting together and meeting Aunt Peggy.

But I'm really too bushed right now to be any fun, so we're going to bow out. Sorry!

I could pick you guys up. Would that convince you to come? :)

Naahhh.:frown3: We're tired, would need to take showers, and would need to leave here in about 45 minutes in order to make it in time.

You two should have gone direct to Heaven on Seven on the L.

Felix has no idea how far away you are!

Only 28 hours of traveling and you are tired. We may have to rename you 'nancy'. Shoot! 28 hours of traveling a shower and then straight into a meeting is what we road warriors do all the time. Sleep??? That is for people that can't handle Red Bull and coffee!!!!! :D;)

Seriously. Sorry you guys could not make it. It was nice to meet Peggy, Felix, and Felix's friend Mark. We had a good time and the food was excellent. Felix did find a database error with his restaurant nav system but made it to the right Heaven on 7 just a few minutes late.

I tried to get Mike to buy dinner on the PoA Inc. corporate charge card but he didn't. They probably ahve not been issued yet. ;)

We did get a picture of the gang but I left my camera in my man bag at home so I will have to post it later!

Yeah, I know. All I can say is that it was 18 hours of travel more than we had expected, which necessitated re-prioritizing. Sorry we missed it!

I had a great time the other night. Thanks for coming in to meet me. Scott and Mike were there a little early and were waiting when I came in. The food was great even though it took some thinking to find anything mild enough to match with milk. For quite awhile, it seemed as though the conversation would not get into flying, but eventually, old horror stories were making the rounds. Felix gave me a lift back to the hotel, which was appreciated after a very long day. He mentioned that most of his pilot friends belong to the grey-hair club and we wondered what that means about the future of our sport.

Thank you all. It made my week to get out for once. That Chicory coffee must be potent. I was up until 4:30AM.

Peggy beat us all with the hot sauce contest.

She even had the A* in Space! :D

Excellent picture, Scott!

It was fun meeting everybody! It's always great when you can go to most cities and meet up with PoAers.

you all look cold, did they have heat at the restaurant??

Wise guy. It was like 29 degrees F outside. How tropical was Ames?

As above, we warmed up with hot sauce...and something-dog beer from LA. :)

I was looking to order Blackened Voodoo but I remembered that the Dixie Brewery was lost in Katrina.

i know scott, i've lived for 23 years at approximately the same latitude. ive always wondered why people stopped here on the migration westward. hotter than hell in the summer with tornadoes and t-storms. blizzards in the winter. crazy.

But now that they've invented the airplane, you'd think they'd leave for places with more favorable weather conditions. :)

Actually, when we were up flying on Monday I was admiring just how beautiful the land was after its dusting of snow. I enjoyed my visit enough to return, even if it was cold and I couldn't fly home as planned.

Where's it you're moving to again? :D

Trapper John

yea yea john. in a lot of ways the weather in Kansas is worse than iowa. more ice in the winter, more tornadoes in the summer. but at least it'll be further south!

You're moving to Kansas? I missed that. Why and where to?

I think I heard that there some sort of airplane company there that may have hired Tony.

Anyone know of which company is based in Kansas? :D ;)
Let's hope it's Beechcraft. I need some cheap parts for my plane. Maybe he can get me a storm window for less than $6000

I wish I could have made it. With regards to the future of our sport, the numbers are declining rapidly (800,000 to 600,000). With Melissa Andrzejewski representing the future of civilian aviation, who knows?

haha! Ted warned me about people like you...

See, Tony, you don't even work for the company and already he's trying to blame and/or extort you. We're just fortunate that neither of us work for companies that he's purchasing products from. :D

no lie. as long as Felix stays non-Textron we can still be his friends lol
