The Piper Jet prototype will be at Cutter Dallas today (TKI). I'm stopping by on the way to the annual MMOPA convention. As a fellow member, Ken Ibold should show up, you might learn the secret handshake or to help with Bill.

Regards, Kevin

Cool. Yes. We want pics!

They invited me to see a mock up of the plane; I asked my secretary to reserve a place for a mock up of me <g>

Best,

Dave

Dave/Mike,

I was invited to see a mock up too. Has JATO bottles. :D

Yes, Kevin, I should show up. Instead, I heading to Munich for Oktoberfest (and to take delivery of my wife's new car).

Ken, you suck....

Btw what beemer are you getting for your wife?

I saw the mockup. Just look here. :D

The invite for the local D-jet mockup show arrived too. I think it's the 15th year in a row they have hauled it through here. More promises than an IBM salesman.

Happy to discuss in person over a drink sometime. Not against Piper; not for the turbine conversion or factory turbine.

Best,

Dave

The stick is in the wrong place...

Is it just me or is there something inherently wrong with an airplane that doesn't have a bunch of switches (or in this case, any switches) all over the place.
That is just so wrong.

It looks like the interior of a Lexus.

You think that's a coincidence? What market are they selling to?

Think how it is now where the guy drives to the airport in his Lexus and walks into the FBO with torn carpeting and rents a dusty and well, well, worn 40 year old Cessna....

As we discussed, he wants leather, a sound system and cupholders.

No, I don't think its a coincidence. I don't like old Cessna interiors either but I like, new modern interiors to look like an airplane interior. If I want to feel like I'm driving a Lexus, I'll drive a Lexus. My Tiger's interior has been updated but still manages to look like an airplane.

Try that methodology in the new Beemer and see how it works.

I'd want to fly that sucker from the right seat. Note to aircraft designers: Stick in RIGHT hand, throttle in LEFT hand ...

Huh? Are you left handed? :dunno:

You can't fly a Cherokee or a Skyhawk that way!

The throttle is in the middle. :dunno:

I drive a Lexus. My airplane's interior looks like an airplane - a nicely leather upholstered, modern equipped airplane, but an airplane. Form follows function.

The interiors of both the new BMW automobiles and the BMW-designed Pilatus PC-12NG are quite nice. They have a similar look to them, but, yes, they are different by design. And they ought to be.

I would look for the PiperJet's real panel to be more aircraft-like when it finally appears.

Unless you look at something like the Icon A5. They're trying to make an airplane look like a Beemer inside, including the panel. They're also getting more attention from the non-aviation folks than I've seen anyone else get, ever.

Maybe Cirrus is on to something, Hmmmmm?

Last I saw of the Diamond DA50 interior, it was looking much more like a car than a plane. Very swank, I might add..

As a matter of fact, I am. :D I'd love to have the stick in the right and throttle in the left, but the Skylane just doesn't support that.

Just remember, everyone is born right handed. Only a select few overcome the handicap! :D :D
