I have used the Ifly GPS map app for the last 3 weeks and have been rather pleased with it. If you have experiance using this APP with an ADS-B receiver, Please post your experiance.

I've switched to using the iFly as my primary tablet app, with both an iLevil as well as a Skyguard.. It's been a great solution for me.

I've been using it for a few weeks and flew this past weekend my iPad and a Android Phone. My son was using it on a Nexus 7, and it was brighter than my iPad Mini with Retina. It was very simple to see, their large buttons and text is great. I think I'll be moving to Android if Apple does not increase the brightness of their screen. It was a big difference. The App was very solid and I had no performance issues or complaints, I think it's much easier to use that other like ForeFlight and FlyQ.

We didn't have much weather, but we were using my son's new Dual 170, and the iFly GPS App shows Weather and Traffic very clear. It even showed the altitude of the traffic and whether they were climbing or descending. Made it very simple to tell if the traffic was of concern at a glance, though they also color code the traffic and give alert sounds and screen messages about the alerts. I was very impressed with how clean, simple and practical it is.

I also like that iFly GPS supports both Android and iPad, as well as working with many of the ADS-B devices. I personally "don't like being told what model I must use", other large companies have taken this approach and I'm not a fan of that tactic. I want the choice and will support those companies the allow me to choose the device that fits my need and budget.

After using my son's Dual, I can see why pilots are getting onboard the ADS-B wagon soon. I'll probably bite the bullet and get the SkyGuardTWX ADS-B with In/Out, for more consistent traffic. At least I know I'll have options with iFly GPS.

Mike,

I started out with an iFly 700 about 3 years ago, then added the original SkyRadar ADSB receiver for Wx (and limited traffic). Upgraded to the sunlight-readable 720 unit a couple years ago, and am still using it, though that's now (usually) on my copilot's yoke, since I have my 2013 Nexus 7 on my yoke running the Android version of iFly. I've also moved up to the SkyGuard TWX ADSB in/out unit for better traffic data.

I've been extremely happy with the iFly stuff. Have seen the software go through many improvements, and have seen how responsive the Adventure Pilot folks are to bug reports and feature requests. I'm part of the Beta team, and I've seen them fix "critical" bugs in beta code late at night and on weekends...did I mention it was beta code?

Data subscriptions are very reasonably priced ($70/yr VFR, $110/yr IFR)...especially if you're interested in multiple devices, since the upgrade from 1 device to 3 (of any combo of iFly, iOS, or Android platforms) is only $20.

The AP folks are good people with a good product.

I think it's a great app with the potential to be the Android share leader. I switched my Nexus 7 to iFly this spring after my Garmin Pilot subscription expired. I had high hopes for GP/Android but found that Garmin was making no investments other than to sell us GDL-39s and that the Android app remained woefully behind the iPad apps including GP.

In contrast, iFly development is active and substantial. Their president and several other employees are active on their forums, soliciting suggestions for enhancements, and frequently tipping their hands on what is in the pipeline. There are a number of very nice enhancements coming, probably shooting for a near-OSH release date. Its low pricing is frosting on the cake.

To your question, I bought a SkyRadar DX box to use with my Nexus 7 & iFly. It is a brand new offering, so iFly does not yet have a sample to hook up the AHRS interface but the FIS-B and TIS-B set up and work like a dream. Absolutely no problems. I am eagerly awaiting the AHRS interface.
