Then pretty much every thread No Joy posts is trolling as well along with a butt load of others.
The Mile High thread was harmless as well.
I take it it got deleted?
I take it it got deleted?
Let me summarize that thread:Well, maybe you all knew about the helicopter guy and that CFI lady, but I didn't. It was a legitimate question. I'm sorry if it was in the wrong place on the forum. I didn't know.
You guys need to lighten up.
Let me summarize that thread:
BobThePilot: How do I do the mile-high trick in a 172?
Ron: There's no safe way to do it, and people have been killed or lost their certificate doing it. You're risking not only your life but that of your passenger who doesn't realize all this. Demonstrate your maturity rather than your machismo and don't try t.
BTP: I know it's stupid and dangerous, but I'm going to do it anyway.
Ron: You're either a troll who needs to be kicked off this site or lack the requisite judgment to hold a pilot certificate.
And you want me to lighten up?
Ron,
I understand and respect the point you are making. I apologize if I have offended you. I believe I can do this safely by using the AP and possibly a remote mic switch. I'm looking into this now. As long as I moniitor ATC then act promptly on their command, I don't see what is unsafe about this at all. I am based in Arizona so it is not like the skies are crowded.
The worst case is to end up like that helicopter pilot, which is what? He has his certificate back and he is famous. Not too bad.

If you believe that, you haven't completely thought it through. It simply cannot be done safely without a second qualified pilot to fly while you do other things.I believe I can do this safely by using the AP and possibly a remote mic switch.

Further, since the FAA is on record as saying this is both illegal and unsafe, it worries me that you are still considering doing this. The FAA has a presentation on Hazardous Attitudes, and you are exhibiting a couple of them in persisting with your efforts to find a way to do this. You're spending a lot of time on this issue. Why don't you spend the time more profitably by reading this, and then reviewing FAA AC 60-22.
When you spend more time thinking about this, I expect you'll realize there are better ways to prove yourself as a good pilot than this stunt.

I'm rather tired of you denying reality when I post something that doesn't fit with the way you'd like things to be. It is that sort of attitude which drives the FAA to write more regs and interpret them more strictly in an effort to stamp out behaviors they consider contrary to safety. In particular, with regard to another discussion in progress on the SARA, this sort of attitude among pilots will lead them to impose tight limits on any changes to the certification rules. As R&W wrote, the FAA is well aware that any time they write a rule, there will be lots of folks like you who will try to distort it into allowing things the FAA never intended to allow.I knew Ron would find a FAR against the mile high club.

If I monitor ATC and am on an IFR plan, which FAR am I violating while I am doing the deed? I am simply multitasking, and it is no more illegal in my opinion that talking to a passenger. Sterile cockpit does not apply here.
See-and-avoid.
ATC only separates you from IFR traffic, not from VFR traffic.
Bob,
172 it's no big problem ! I too used this venerable airframe to join the club myself and it didn't even have an AP. Just slide both front seats all the way back, re-trim, move yourself to the middle put your left foot on the pilots side RIGHT rudder pedal and your right foot on the co-pilots side LEFT rudder pedal and begin procreation practice ! Just remember your rudder inputs are backwards ( think Flexible Flyer Sled) but it's not like you need to make that many in the course of normal flight anyway.

Did you read the Martz order? I guess not. Here it is again. This time please read it completely. If I monitor ATC and am on an IFR plan, which FAR am I violating while I am doing the deed?
I hate to burst your bubble, Bob, but your opinion doesn't count on this issue. The FAA has spoken, the NTSB has confirmed it -- doing this is most definitely illegal.I am simply multitasking, and it is no more illegal in my opinion that talking to a passenger. Sterile cockpit does not apply here.
Like I said -- issues of maturity and judgment. See "macho" in AC 60-22.Ron, he doesn't really want to know how to do the mile-high trick, he just wants to brag that he's going to do it.
.....This is why I suggested being on an IFR plan, because then at least we will be at an IFR altitude. ....

As for your opinion that it is just "multitasking," we're back what I said earlier about maturity and judgment, which your posts suggest you lack.
And with that, again, I'm out.
A thread asking about the mile high club is trolling. A thread titled "From the Peoples Socialist Republic of Kalifornia" isn't. Got it.
Hmmmm...
Suppose you got a Catholic ATC guy working your flight
It's all some form of stupid and we really should stop it.A thread asking about the mile high club is trolling. A thread titled "From the Peoples Socialist Republic of Kalifornia" isn't. Got it.

Having been an old rec.aviation.xxx participant and BBS user in general, it was a community overwhelm by trolling. On one hand you have pros that stir the pot because they can (Bob the whatever), then you have people who take the bait (Ron, shame on you), then you have people who are part of the community but bring in stuff that works better elsewhere (Kalifornia).
At some point the signal to noise ratio inverts and people bail out.
Is anything wrong with the subjects or POVs expressed? No, but not all things need to be covered in all places.
Active moderation is the thing that makes these things work over the long term. Without it, some sort of internet entropy tales over. For Chrissakes, don't rebuild the thread in question here (it's already happened). Just walk away as you report the activity to the moderators.
Rant off, later.
I agree, but then what about all the other obvious troll threads that just go on page after page after page? No Joy has put up less than a handful of non trolling threads and cross posts all over the place. I haven't seen anything locked down there yet.
After 50, almost all threads have devolved into a dick measuring contest. (mods, it would be nice if the forum software allowed one to do this automatically)
[blah blah blah lots of inane blather removed]
In any case, these kind of threads are a waste of time and I see quite a bit of trolling here.... even economic trolling (attacking other businesses).
[blah blah blah]
Economic trolling? What is that? .
That is the most retarded accusation so far in this and the other thread I just wanted advice on the best way to get laid in a plane. That is all.
