If I don't like another pilot, could I cancel his IFR flight plan mid flight?

Say we are enroute and I recognize Paul's voice on the radio asking for direct. ATC is like "Cessna 1245, you will fly as filed and there will not be another word about this."

Could I key the mike and throw out a "Cessna 1234 would like to Cancel IFR"?

Sure you could.

Yup. Similar has been done before at the airline I flew at. Not going into details though, but it was funny. And it was funny more than once. And even worse things were done.

You bet you could!

You could also stand by the fence at DFW and issue takeoff clearances. :rollercoaster:

I'd suggest, in both instances, that you have someone other than you holding the camera. It might end up being good entertainment!

Bryan starts scribbling down ideas feverishly...

You could do it even if you liked another pilot...

Years ago there was someone doing that at ROA for awhile until the FCC finally got him. I experienced it once flying in there when tower transmitted to me an answer to a request (that the clown made using my call sign), and as I was aware of the clown out there, I just answered "tower that wasn't us".

It's been done to me. I was flying an airplane that another guy routinely flew. I heard him do it because we were on the same frequency. It's possible he didn't like me, but who knows, LOL.

No. Can you con ATC into thinking he has? Yes

This reminds of something that happened once. I'm working the midwatch at center. Usually everyone gets direct anywhere at any altitude they want. This night there was something happening, don't remember the details but there are 2 planes at, let's say 310. I say you guys aren't going to believe it but one of you is going to have to go to 350. United### says I'll take it so I say United### climb and maintain FL350. Another voice reads back "Uh, this is United###, we can do it, out of 310 for 350. Other voice says thanks, were a little heavy tonight.

Yes, but what does the latter have to do with the former?

Just establishing a premis.

This? ;)

I think he is pointing out the numbers are different 1245, 1234, those were meant to be the same right?

yeah... I'm bad at a lot of things.
Add consistency to... what were we talking about?

Sounds like a good way to keep guard quiet. Will center take "negative services" on guard?

Interference with air navigation is also a federal felony.

So consider that while boys will be boys.

I was going to ask, "can" you or "may" you? But your post covers the thought nicely ;) although not as nicely as "how much do you like prison food?" :D

I heard a conversation between a controller and a pilot where the was a whole lot of confusion about their route of flight and airspeed among other things. The pilot finally came back and said he'd figured out what was going on.......he forgot to log out of FltPlan.com back at the fbo and someone messed with his profile.

I just listen on LiveATC for someone and then call the cancellation in on the phone number from a burner phone with spoofed caller ID. LOL.

Btw, instead of your voice on the tapes, Br-Y-an (with a why), ask Siri to cancel it for him. Anonymous voice, cannot be connected to you. ;)

If you really don't like the pilot you could key up and say "Cessna 1234 is 7500".

Different twist, there used to be only TWO Tigers in my area (mine being one of them), both similar paint jobs and BOTH myself and the other pilot named "Dan" ... controllers used to be very friendly in slow times and I was once asked "Which Dan is this?" My reply," THE DAN! ... the other is a cheap poser imposter" ;)
