Yea the arrow i flew does 140 kts at 9gph. Not a bad little plane. The hydro LG has a simple emergency drop valve.

You better buy that Arrow.

My original plan was to fly the Cherokee while I build a 7. When the time came to buy the engine, sell the Cherokee and buy the engine. But now it seems I don't have enough time for flying what with getting my A&P hours and home projects. How would I find time to build an RV-7? And I'm the type that would have to build it and hold the repair cert, I can't just buy someone else's.

Only two solutions that don't involve AMUs; leave earlier or fly with friends that only own J-3s.

That will bring the 172 speed up to that of the 150hp Cherokee. but it will burn more gas.

I don't have the STC and while I can outrun most 172s, I can't outrun Jeff's as his is a bit souped up.

Jeff's 172 is 100% nicer than any I've ever seen in my life.
