I Am Finished

I was thinking the same thing in regards to not having a handgun on me. I know I would have at least pulled the gun which may have precipitated the situation to the point that he also pulled a firearm and left me no option but to meet the threat with deadly force. And the very last thing on Earth that I want to do is take another man's life :(

I've now had my night's sleep and I am still feeling as if leaving the business is the best option for me.

I don't blame you for quitting.

With that said, when he chased you down to a dead end and then threatened to kill you "with nobody knowing" his intent was clear: You were going to die if he could get away with it. Armed and trained properly you would have immediately put two in the chest and one in head at the first sign of him pulling the knife. His life does not matter at this point as he has shown that your certainly does not matter. If nothing else, you save the taxpayers money and maybe save someone else's life down the road.

You are doing the right thing getting out of the business if you are not willing to defend yourself.

the other guy had a knife, and possibly a firearm. TS made the best possible decision at the time, by getting himself out of harms way.

Pushing the car door against an angry man would have probably resulted in the man grabbing the door and stabbing the TS. This isn't the movies, and TS isn't Chuck Norris.

I saw a tailgating ****ing match on a surface street escalate into this (the door push, not the stabbing ) and it did not have any significant impact other than the assailant getting REALLY mad. Last I saw they were chasing each other around the dude's car.

You choose a line of work where you interject yourself into other peoples lives, at the very worst time at that, I'd say this was quite foreseeable and I'm quite surprised this type of event didn't happen earlier. :dunno:

Ha!

Here how that works, he shoots a unarmed guy after that comment, wife or who ever the other person was changes the story that you threaded him and then murdered him, one person dead by your hands, another stating you killed them in cold blood, and of course there is the killers story...

Sounds like quite the mess, personally I'd have just avoided the entire situation.

If it was easy ,everyone would be doing that job, sorry for your troubles,I think in those situations ,I would be carrying a gun.

Follow your gut, but if you stay in I'd get me one of those bean bag shotguns and a permit to carry it.

You won't kill the bastard, but you'll definitely change his attitude...

The knife was pulled and the threat was made. That is justification for self defense. Of course, if you can leave the situation that is ALWAYS your best option; however, once the knife came out the gun should have also.

Better yet, get the heck out of California in the land of fruits and nuts and move to a state that will not condemn you for doing your job.

Or don't interject yourself into other lives like that.

Still, unless he shot the woman too the story would have been twisted, and the fact that he made the decision to confront those people at their home wouldn't have helped.
