And another possible developing one behind Jose. :(

way.....

And I be going to Destin next week. Or not. :(

Jose is most likely not going to hit the US. All of the models have it doing a hard right and petering out over the sea. But things could always change.

Definitely a busy hurricane season.

Oh I hope so. Momma be in a bad mood if we don't get to go.

Hope Jose doesn't play follow the leader.

Climate seems to be changing, no?
:stirpot:

No
There were hurricanes long before there were malleable morons.
Yeah, but the seas are higher and warmer, so expect more intense hurricanes, and possibly more of them. I've seen some explanations of the drought, though they're mostly over my pay grade.

Really? Are you sure? Show me documented proof there were hurricanes before mankind built their first fire and dumped pollution into the air.

You can't, can you?

:D;)

So the impressionable are led to believe.

Well there you go.

So the weather "just is".

I could write a diatribe about the arrogance of people of a certain political ilk who reject God but accept the religion of MediaScience(TM) and think that us puny humans can influence the global climate (as though the climate they grew up in is somehow the "correct" one.) But I won't since Madam Malleus would send me to the penalty box.

So what, 11 years since the last hurricane hit FL? And now it's because of climate change? :dunno:

Are you implying that Man invented fire? That's some serious BS right there.

Oops... maybe I misread your emoji's.

What is "petering" anyway? Is that like, taking a leak in the shrubs?

The 1900 hurricane that hit Galveston, TX killed between 6,000 and 12,000 people. It was also estimated to have 145 mph winds at landfall.

There were 70+ major hurricanes documented to hit the Caribbean islands in the 17th and 18th centuries. Hurricanes have been happening for a very, very long time.

Probably the most ironic thing about all this is if you talk to anyone involved in Florida infrastructure, they know sea levels are rising. No doubt about it. Talk to the Florida Legislature and they'r win active denial like some of the folks on this board. The hurricane drought was clearly climate change, it went way past statistical significance. Whether this year is an intense outlier is another story, one that isn't yet written. All that said, I am very glad I chose to live a long long way from there. I'm certain the folks in the affected areas are equally pleased with that aspect of the situation.

wasn't the claim that climate change woould cause more intensive hurricanes more often? That was the claim, right?

So we go 10 years without a significant hurricane- but that's climate change too?

When did the claim change?

and whats the science behind it? I can understand the first order thinking that if it warms up, you get more storms because of the excess heat load [which is what causes these storms anyway - they become an effective means of moving heat from the tropics to the poles].

But how does a hurricane drought translate to climate change?

'Anything' that is different automatically becomes driven by climate change?

Absolutely agree - you can't chalk up one hurricane, or even a hurricane season as evidence of climate change.

But just to check... you've never tried using some snowfall in the middle of winter as "evidence" against climate change either, right?

WarmistCoolists want it both ways. It guarantees their "relevance."

Always a creepy guy(Jose) staring at the backside of a girl (Irma)..

The problem is we simply don't know what a warmer planet Earth looks like. Clearly, the hurricane drought was like dot climate change, it was unprecedented in our history certainly. There were some explanations, though my own lack of insight leads me to be unable to evaluate them.
I hope you notice that I am somewhat reticent to declare current hurricane activity as a result of climate change. But if uninformed little me had to guess what a warmer Earth would look like, I'd say periods of little activity followed by periods of intense activity. That seems to be how everything else is going.
But feel free to deny away. Everyone has a right to their own opinion no matter how poorly informed.

you mean like hours of boredom followed by moments of intense terror - ok - but thats the weather now. It's ALWAYS been the weather.
