The man, driving alone, backed his vehicle down to the (boat) ramp at about 7 p.m., thinking he could see if a tire was leaking, said a friend who arrived on the scene later to bring him dry clothes.

As he stood by the vehicle looking for bubbles, the SUV suddenly rolled backward into the water. The man tried to get in the driver's side and step on the brake, but only ended up getting soaked, the friend said.

On the occasions when I would be at the launch ramps I would, for purely entertainment value, loiter to watch the traffic. I've seen at least 5 vehicles slip into the water. Thankfully no one has been injured.

One particularly memorable event was the husband "directing" his wife on how to back the staion wagon to launch the 18" open bow. Car windows down, except the large back window...kids piled in the back with the cooler, etc.

Husband gets over-the-top frustrated at wife's inability (you'd think all his screaming was enough for her to "get it"). So he trades places with her and attempts to drive up the ramp to realign the trailer. Instead, what he actually did was stomp on the pedal while the car was still in the reverse gear. Three of us got the children out and watched as the boat floated the trailer which towed the car into the briney depths.
 
1978/79 Porsche 928. I guess it could be considered an SUV. Nice wheels, called 'phone dials' for obvious reasons.
 
Does noone notice the reference to Risky business???? sheesh...
 
Is that the photo from Footloose, or some other Tom Cruise POS? It looked it that at first, but I defer. I never go see Tom Cruise movies(except Top Gun).

This post has cemented your rep as the worst at 80's movie trivia :D:D:D

First Tom Cruise was not in Footloose. 2nd the featured car in that movie would have been a VW bug. The star of Footloose was Kevin Bacon.

If you are not going to take your useless knowledge of entertainment triva from years past seriously, it is best to not even play along ;) ;)


I swear the useless stuff that fills my head sometimes. :rolleyes:
 
OK, ask me how much I care. Movie trivia is about one small step above knitting yarn on my scale of importance.

<edit; actually, I own a Porsche 928GT so I should know more about it, but really - I don't care a whit.>
