How old were you when you got you PP license

17. Haven't flown for 42 years, but am currently studying to return this spring.

I don't need a license to PP. I do it all the time. What are you supposed to do, hold it?

Now, I do need a certificate to fly, and I got mine at the young age of 43.

22.

But I hardly ever go anywhere in the airplane. Lots of short local flights just for the sake of going for a ride.

I just turned 38 last month so hopefully 38

21 now 37. Use plane for transportation whenever possible.

I was 65 years old. Felt like I was 20 when I did my solo flight.

18 years old, 3 days after graduation from high school. My father was my instructor and I got to use his aircraft and fuel. They were easy days!

18. I started training when I was 15, got close to solo at 16, stopped for 2 years, and finished up when I was 18.

I got my PP license in1973 when I was 16 years old.

My HS physics teacher taught our ground school. He piloted B-17s in Europe during WW2.
My flight instructor at KSWW had flown Hellcats off carriers in the South Pacific during WW2.

I'm still amazed at the rich primary flight training I was privileged to experience.

23 when I got private and instrument.

The plane I soloed in is still on the flight line at our club. I still fly it from time to time. My instructor for those ratings had 65 years of flying experience.

21 for my private, 22 for my instrument, commercial and CFI.

18, Fall of first year in college. Started after Labor Day, done before Christmas.

I was too old. I wish I had started when I was 15 instead of 39+. I started at 36, checkride at 39+ (48). 600+ hours and still having fun!

41 ppl - 42 Instrument.
Took getting a 16 year old son to convince his mother that he could start ground school. This opened the door to the 41 year old boy to start also.

Her father passed away as PIC in a small GA plane when she was 5, so I thought this was not an option until my kid talked it into her.

Now she loves every minute of flying.

Solo'd when I was 18, but never got my PP. But I've been flying continuously for the last 23 years. Is that wrong?

I've never had a private pilot license. First FAA Airman Certificate that I ever got said Commercial.
