How NOT to fill your tanks

People have no concept that the explosive power of gasoline makes tnt look like a chump.

Even those that should know better, don't always know better.

Years ago, I worked with a guy from Russia. One day, he was having problems starting his car - suspected the battery. So, he calls one of his Russian buddies - a guy who had been a battery man on a Russian Submarine. Someone who really knew batteries. Someone who's life depended on battery safety. He comes over and suspects that the battery was low on water. Pries off the caps - but it's dark. Can't see the water level. Of course, being Russian, he smoked, and had a lighter handy.

Flick. Boom.

People survived, battery didn't.

Pretty hard to see in the tanks at night without a lighter-like there’s some other way, lol. Just sayin.

That is totally inaccurate.... Totally. but nice try to be part of the story.

If you are going to make a dick post, at least back it up. I'll be waiting, yawn.

Im not the one who posted BS... I just called your bluff. Are you an EOD tech, TSSE or SA for ATF? Didn’t think so......

Congrats...

Another Darwin Award candidate.

I’d also agree that a lot of folks don’t realize how explosive gasoline actually is. A lot of ignorant folks.

Not seeing what’s ‘totally inaccurate’ about that.

Educate me expert, I'm still waiting, I think you are the BS artist here, prove me wrong.

I’m not the one who made an grossly inaccurate statement and is refusing to back it up. Instead, you want someone else to do your bidding so you can pick it apart on the nuances. I suspect you might be an ambulance chaser attorney or the likes.

If you are firm in your statement, please back your own statement up instead up taking pot shots from behind cover. Let’s hear it.....

“Gasoline is more explosive than TNT” is your statement. Back it up or get to step in’.

Gas deflagrates, TNT detonates. Maybe Paul can chew on that and get Siri working for himself....

I think you’re getting a little too worked up over nothing.

I think what @PaulS was saying, is that people don’t realize how volatile gasoline actually is. Relax.

It's more than opinion Ryan, but like anything there are frames of reference, such as gasoline in it's liquid state is relatively safe. Either he doesn't really understand it or realizes he stepped in it. Would have been nice to have an adult conversation about it, I could be wrong, but he chose to be a dick about it and I'm not in the mood this morning.

Okay so just to keep this ****ing fight to a minimum let's go to the middle ground here.

@Unit74 is correct, TNT is technically far more powerful of an explosive than gasoline. This is a quantifiable measurement and it is simply true that gasoline is less explosive than TNT.

@PaulS is correct that gasoline is waaay more explosive and dangerous than most people give it credit for.

Now girls, you're both pretty. Let's just get along.

The statement was very succinct and inflamtory....some people just cannot take being told they are wrong. Paul needs a trip to BHS for some bone fishing I suspect...

RyanB said that, not Paul. Just clarifying

Inflamatory?? Lol, What I said was pretty benign compared to your d-bag comment. My point was that pound for pound gasoline has more chemical energy than TNT, more power. On top of that liquids like gasoline can be combined with oxidizers that will yield explosive power like tnt. Furthermore, my understanding of TNT is that it has to be specially prepared (if it is stable) before a lighter will set it off, hence a lighter near TNT is less dangerous than a lighter near liquid gasoline (vapors burn and if contained with the correct amount of air, will explode.)

So it's important to realize that sometimes our little closed minded one track way of thinking may not be the only way to look at things. A little nice goes a long way some time. I'll be fishing soon, won't be bone fishing, suggest you get out for some too. It's all good.

Just for clarification, Paul is a boy's name, I'm a boy. I know times are confusing.
