How many landings before solo?

I soloed 79 students in a 141 sylabus and we usually hit 45 to 65. Some were good to go after 10 15 landings but being 141 i had a syllabus i had to hit.

It is actually not how many landings, but rather how many GOOD landings !

Definition of good landing..... A landing in where the airplane can be used again without any repairs being needed...

I'm at 86 so far, but IMO they have been pretty good for some time now. If the weather would only play nice I could solo next week. Its been a miserable winter.

Til you are competent and safe. You don't want to bend metal on your first solo...that would really spoil the moment. Kinda like the guy at our airport that balled up his fancy, enclosed ultralight aircraft on his first landing. No harm to the pilot, but the plane became a ball of tube and fabric in the weeds short of the runway. That was like a $48,000 an hour rental rate.

When I was flight instructing I found that 75 landings was usually in the ballpark for most students.

I’ll go back and check my log book, I’m curious. I know I only had 6 hours.
