How do I use my Mac....I'm dumb.

There's also a "Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 3" sitting in Software Update waiting for me to install it. Did you guys install the update yet?

I'd really like to know what version SkyVector is written for, it works fine in Safari except the flight plan track doesn't show up. That's one of the things I have to use FireFox for. :(

Kent--please hand over your geek card--it is being permanently revoked. SkyVector is JAVASCRIPT.

Java is not Javascript .. AT ALL. If SkyVector were Java you would get a Java applet that had to load and you had to approve. Java applets in websites are almost non-existent these days.

From wikipedia:
JavaScript, despite the name, is essentially unrelated to the Java programming language, although both have the common C syntax, and JavaScript copies many Java names and naming conventions. The language's name is the result of a co-marketing deal between Netscape and Sun, in exchange for Netscape bundling Sun's Java runtime with their then-dominant browser. The key design principles within JavaScript are inherited from the Self and Scheme programming languages

Yeah, I know they're two separate things.

I do not have to "Approve" Java stuff, I have it set to accept.

Neither did I. It is obvious.

Only if you actually watch it open, which I never do. I put it in some background tab and come back to it. Total ADD! LOL

I wonder how much longer we can keep this silly thread going. ;)

A long time. I can tell javascript or a java applet from a mile away with a 15" LCD. No need to watch it open.

*wonders if he can made a javascript page that looks like the java applet loading page....*

So Nick...

Didja keep it? :dunno:

Yes I did. Its a solid computer, and OSX is a good, strong OS. Its like Linux, but more...."pro" feeling.

I still have not drank the kool aid tho. Plain and simple - every computer will do the task if prodded right (and Macs need some prodding too).

Good, or I'd have wasted my time making this:

What a PITA.

After playing with Windows 7 enough, I decided to dump OSX completely and install Windows 7 alone.

You know how hard Apple makes that?

But I got it working, and it works REALLY well. I had to install the 64 bit version of it, which makes some of the drivers a bit tough to get (for example, I still don't have my iSight working), but its ok. I'm back to using a real OS again.

Yes! Isn't Windows 7 just awesome? Infinitely better than Vista in my opinion. You could try the 32bit driver for your iSight, but it's anyone's guess as to if it will work or not.

Did you figure out the Safari fix yet? Its called Firefox.

I second this.

Since Firefox also has a memory leak, but it takes a lot longer, I'm currently going with Opera. Camino crashed quietly after working farliy well.

Nothing like having 32(!) swap files after working a few hours. I restarted and had 6 swap files in minutes due to having two whole tabs open in Safari.

I've been blaming constantly-patched Adobe Flassh, but I read OS X 10.4 is where the trouble is. I'll be upgrading to 10.6 Snow Leopard at the earliest opportunity.
