I need some digital photos of a particular style of homebuilt antennas but I don't want to glom up a group where that would be frowned on.

The homebuilt group on this server is either dead or very nearly so. No activity in over a month.

Suggestions appreciated, whether on this board or another.

Thanks,

Jim

If you want help with something, just ask, no need for being cryptic. Either someone will be able to provide or not.

Hey Jim,
Good to hear from a valuable resource! What sort of photo are you looking for? I have a Long EZ and all antennas seem to be working well. If I can contribute anything I'd be pleased to do so. Am based nearby. Have had a few questions for you too.

Some of the online aircraft parts vendors sell antennas intended for use in composite homebuilts. Chief Aircraft has some with pictures.

OOOOOkay. I didn't want to be blatantly commercial, but here goes. My company (RST Engineering) has delivered some 10,000 "plastic plane antenna" kits over the last 30 years, right from Rutan's prototype EZ through Voyager and (while they aren't saying) I don't see any agitated porcupine quills sticking out of SpaceShip either. $29 for enough copper foil and ferrite toroids to make 6 VHF antennas.

In all that time we've only published a paper b/w manual to the builder. Now we are going to digital media (CDROM) and can afford color pictures, but in all that time I haven't collected any "as built" pictures from our builders. I'd like to find the best way of asking anybody who has installed our copper tape antennas and has digital pictures during construction if I might be able to use their pictures in our new manual.

Where would the best place be to ask for these pictures?

There, that's the sum of it. :goofy:

Thanks,

Jim

Go for it.

Jim

I don't think anyone would be offended if you asked that on the canard-aviators list.

Jim- I read RST Engineering sold ~10,000 of these kits. Have you considered contacting some of those customers for a picture?

Canardzone forum.

There's another canard aviators forum that I link to off of John Slade's cozy page. I'm on my phone so I would just tell you to google it.

Yeah, I thought about that. Trouble is, our records system took a real hit about two years ago, so the people who have gotten to the antenna installation part of the airplane are lost to us and the folks whose email we have probably not gotten to the installation part yet.

Whoops- sorry 'bout that.
