Reminds me of how old I am. I have been a passenger on a United DC-3, a Martin 404, and a Super Connie. Rode a TWA Connie from Kansas City to San Francisco on the way to Navy boot camp in 58. The Martin was a Piedmont in 69. The DC-3 was United's in the mid 50s Denver to Reno.
Cool pictures. I jsut wonder how much the plane stank of cigarette smoke back then?
I think that's true, at least for me. But now that I have experienced a world of non-smoking I would never want to go back.Since the smoke smell was everywhere I don't think anyone noticed back then.

Most guys blame the dogs for the smell. Showers work better. That's it exactly. A decade or so ago with so many people smoking virtually anywhere you never noticed it. Now if I get on an elevator at work with a couple of folks heading back in from a smoke break the smell is incredible.
Same thing with dogs. If you have dogs in the house all the time you never notice the smell but if a friend comes over that doesn't have a dog he/she will most definitley notice it.
