It's not what you see in photo #1; it's what is hidden. See photos 2, 3, and 4.

But there's more.

But what's behind the doors of the hangar built several years ago is nothing short of spectacular. There's still about two more years to complete the project. Mind boggling sight.

Oh, the Connie is a basket case, a parts supply for what's in the hangar. Lufthansa is spending a fortune on the project.

I just threw in the last one for kicks. I was circling above Auburn-Lewiston KLEW.

It's great that they're doing that. The Connie, IMHO, is the most beautiful transport ever made, and one of the top five most beautiful aircraft ever.

Must be grindingly expensive to fly those babies, though.....

Hey Harley, aren't those cement blocks in photo #4 first email supposed to have red "Remove before Flight" streamers?:goofy:

) When I took the photo that was from a higher vantage point I was at the top of the boarding steps in one of the earlier images. If I had one of those blocks my 20' boat would never drag its mooring, eh?

There's a new flying club based at KLEW, www.l-apilotsclub.com. (I think I have it correct, maybe shouldn't have the - in URL.) Organizers have a 1997 Skyhawk.
Nearly 40 attended the open house last Saturday.

The son in-law of a lady friend of mine is -- for lack of proper description -- a key supervisor within the realm of the project(bad description of his position, I know); and Judi told me that he's figuring there's about two more years of work. Kevin used to be with Lear(Wichita) for quite a few years. One of his "then" projects is pictured below, if i can find the image. He often worked on pre-owned Lear aircraft which had been purchased by a corporate entity who would have it totally redone to new owner specifications.

It does sort of dwarf the GA aircraft, doesn't it?

The old Wiggins Airways was h-q'd at Norwood, MA. It was purchased by the employees and relocated to Manchester, NH; has contract to service the FedEx planes(when last I knew). Mrs. Wiggins lives not far from me. That was one of the Wiggins planes.
