How do they prevent this with bonafide b.a.s.? Weigh them down with something?
Burial at sea of human remains that are not cremated shall take place at least 3 nautical miles from land and in water at least 600 feet deep. Certain areas, including east central Florida, the Dry Tortugas, Florida and west of Pensacola, Florida to the Mississippi River Delta, require water at least 1800 feet deep. All necessary measures shall be taken to ensure that the remains sink to the bottom rapidly and permanently.
OK that was just ashes, but I gotta ask the gruesome details of burial at sea...there was another story today about homeless people being buried at sea:
If someone falls out of a boat, quite often they show up on shore later. How do they prevent this with bonafide b.a.s.? Weigh them down with something?
Also, do those who want to be buried at sea realize they are asking to become....fish food?
Hannibal Henning? They float due to bloating. When you kill them, slice into their abdomen and scramble through the intestines, up through the diaphragm and punch up their lungs and slice through the skin for the full length of the extremities. You can tie an extra bit of chain around them for good measure.
I find it more ecologically friendly to just lay down a piece of 3/4" ply and use the fire ax to chop them into small bits and bait lobster or crab pots with them. If you're on a proper trapping boat, you can just feed them through the bait grinder.

Hannibal Henning?
Nah, just the best way to deal with lazy deckhands. You make an example of one and the rest fall into line quick. Also saves a few bucks on bait. At best it's second generation cannibalism.
Henning, have you ever considered sensitivity training?
...fresh long pork carved off the spit....
Well you are most certainly docking in Brunei then! Strict Muslim country. Only place I ever had my luggage searched coming into a county to see if I had any liquor. But Malaysia is also Muslim. While a lot more secular than Brunei I still would not expect a lot of pork product on the rest of Borneo that is East Malaysia? It'll be better when I get to Borneo where you can get fresh long pork carved off the spit....
