I have a David Clark H10-66X headset that has a M-101/AIC dynamic mic. This model has the high/low impedance switch for GA aircraft, so it mostly works fine (when I remember to put the switch in the right position), but it constantly breaks squelch on the portable intercom in the cub due to wind noise. Is the problem the type of mic, and if so, can I replace it? Or do I just need to put a windscreen on it, and if so, where can I get one big enough? TIA.

Thanks Shane, I just ordered that cover. Should I take it off when I'm flying in quieter planes?

You should be fine with it on all the time. You will have to do a squelch adjustment though. If you cant get the pickup to work, just remove the leather cover.

Just pic the "Dynamic - Large Round" option. That will take care of most of the noise with your open cockpit. I'd hook you up with our Extreme High Noise mic, but our EHN mics won't work in a low impedance configuration, so swapping to our mic won't help with that headset.

So even with the windscreen and leather cover, this mic is still problematic. I know it's this one because covering the mic with my hand removes all the noise. My 20 year old flightcom (with leather cover) has no problem.

So does anyone know if one of the replacement mics will work on this headset? Would one of these work, or is the high/low impedance circuitry going to be an issue?
