Headband headlamp

I got this one:

It just got here yesterday. 4 white LEDs (low/med/high/flash). All LEDs light, the intensity is set by each consecutive button press. The filter slides up or down to cover or uncover the LEDs. Comes with red, green, and blue filters but only one can be installed at a time. O-ring seals the battery compartment.

I tossed it in my BBQ toolbox for this weekend

PIREP:

Used it pretty hard this weekend during a BBQ contest. It got wet, got grease on it, got wiped down, and needs to be washed. And worked great.

Minus: Has 3 AAA batteries, and a little clunky, so it might be a little heavier than some of the small Petzl lights that use 2 batteries and are a little more streamlined.

Plus: White light - very bright on high, just right for puttering around on low, and med is a good general purpose. Red light - slide up the filter to cover the LEDs and you get red (or blue or green, depending on which of the three filters you snap in). The filter attenuates the light quite a bit, so in cockpit use you might need med or high. Low would be good in a very dark environment, but might be too low in a cockpit. This light is a very good floodlight. I saw some Petzl headlamps that put out a spot, this one is a flood. I think it works better for my application.

Overall - I might have sold a few of them this weekend. It really worked well.
