This video documents the "Phase 2" testing of the Personal Jetpack, toward the development of the Jet Wing (alternate version to that of Yves Rossy's). Phase 1 testing was previously done on skis, demonstrating fast uphill ascents and reaching a top speed of 47 mph. See link below:

Troy Hartman is a professional aerial stuntman, BASE jumper and inventor. He is an X Games gold medalist for skysurfing and accomplished television host for many shows, most notably the MTV series "Senseless Acts of Video". He was the face of the award-winning 1998 Pepsi "Goose" Super Bowl commercial.

How much is a personal jet pack?

Apparently he built his own. It did say it was a turbine, though, so does it run Jet A?

The engines I am using are designed for use in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) applications, and are thus massive at twice the thrust of those used by Yves. I was losing sleep at night thinking about these monsters screaming at 100,000 RPM and 1500 degrees F only inches away from my skin. I decided I needed to build a testbed that I could wear on my back. This turned into a much more involved project than I had envisioned, as I realized how difficult it was going to be to cram all of the necessary systems into a small space, and make it wearable. I figured if I was going to put this much effort into it, I may as well trick it out! The final result was a fairly compact jet backpack of my own design. The first test fire-up was frightening to say the least, but successful.

Seriously, I give him credit ...

but doesn't it look a little like something produced by the ACME Corp., for its best customer?

From YouTube Q&A:

Q:
"How concerned are you about melting those lines in the event of a twist or super dynamic yawing motion?"

A:
"I actually did completely burn through one side of lines on a launch test." ...

The skiing is cool, too. Screw the lift tickets ... :D

You'd be amazed at how close jet capable airports are to most ski areas. Fuel is pretty easy to get and move around. . .

It was in Mammoth. There is an airport there, down on HWY 395 with jet fuel. I thought filling up jerrycans was frowned upon, though :nono:
