Hayden's Air Tour

Okay, Hayden the Garden Gnome has taken the next step on his 2007 inaugural Air Tour. As you may have noted on the Fly-B-Q thread, he started at KLOM, Wings Field, Philadelphia on May 20th, 2007. His uncle, Adam Zucker, bravely turned him over to the his pilot for the first leg, Leslie Prellwitz. She took him as far as S24, Sandusky Regional in Ohio. From there, Grant Prellwitz took him to his home field of 1C5, Bolingbrook, IL. Tired after a long day of flying, Hayden relaxed in the sauna in the Prellwitz' luxurious mountain villa overlooking beautiful .... Ooops, back to reality.

Plans for a flight yesterday were dashed by weather, so today, 5/27, 2007, Hayden took his third trip, this time in a C-172 with G1000, from 1C5 to RFD, Rockford, IL, where Dave Siciliano bravely (some would say unsuspectingly) took him down to warmer climes. Plans are for Dave to house him in Dallas prior to Hayden continuing his trip on to Gastons in two weeks time.

Thereafter, he will wend his way back up north over the course of the summer, arriving at Prickett-Grooms Airfield in Sidnaw, MI (6Y9) for the Labor-day festivities. He weill leave there to arrive back at his starting point, Wings Field, in time for Fly-B-Q 2008!

I was having trouble uploading them en masse and needed to do them individually. Adam will need to provide pictures of his birthing process and his first foray out into the world.

Hayden made the pilot's breakfast this morning at Addison. Sorry the pick isn't better; it was from my cell phone. He seems to be enjoying things here and is looking forward to the trip to Gaston's on Saturday.

Hayden has now visited Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina. He had many 1st's yesterday. We plan on visiting Kitty Hawk. More details to come.

Can we get him handed off more than once between fly-ins? The point was to get people together more often, not just to make sure he gets to all three. Almost three months before Labor Day and he's only going to make ONE hand off?

Ed...I plan on handing him off to others. I am just trying to figure out who is going to 6Y9 or if I know someone who knows someone else who is going to 6Y9. I wasn't planning on keeping him 3 months.

Ok, in the other thread you said you have to get him to Kaye who would bring him. I thought it was gonna be a one handoff deal. But you need to post a picture of getting it from Dave S ?

I'm actually kinda suprised to hear him heading back east... Was kinda thinking he would go west. He's got to see as much of the country as possible.

Ok, in the other thread you said you have to get him to Kaye who would bring him. I thought it was gonna be a one handoff deal. But you need to post a picture of getting it from Dave S ?

Sorry, but she didn't get him directly from Dave S. He left him with Kent/Kate, and Brook got him indirectly from Kent. I don't think there's a picture of that handoff. I was trying to get a photo of it, but everyone was trying to get out Sunday to beat the storm, and it never happened.

I am planning a trip west in July -- NY to Ponca City OK, Borger TX, Carlsbad NM, Tucson AZ, Oceanside CA, Chico CA, Vale OR, Spokane WA, Yellowstone WY, Tulsa OK to NY and points between. Would you like me to snag Hayden and bring him along to hand off in the west?

If so, can someone bring him up north?

When are you going to be in Spokane? I might be able to make a run over to pick him up. Need to be in Pullman the weekend of the 28th and 29th anyway. One more excuse to fly over, rather than drive.

Hayden went Hot Air Ballooning today.

1. Taking off
2. In Flight
3. Finding a field to land (but not that one)
4. HAYDEN HAS LANDED!!!!!
5. Having a toast of champange....he is quite the drinker mind you (remember ATL 2 weekends ago?)
6. Hayden showing off his certificate saying he went hot air ballooning.

He said...that was the highlight of his trip in NC so far.

Tomorrow if the wx holds out we are off to Kitty Hawk.

I just wanted him to have a few experiences thats all. I am going to try and have him do a tandem skydive since Selos is coming to town....but then again...thats just wishful thinking. If it happens it happens. If not...oh well.

If you want to fly to NC and pick him up, I will be glad to hand him over. Or if anyone on here will be passing though near RDU, I will hand him over to them and they can take him to Chicago.

TODAY - Hayden visited Kitty Hawk. Had his first landing there. I worked with him on the controls. He met Orvile and Wilbur Wright (their statues at least). He was a little up set that we didn't make it to the beach. Said he wanted to stick his toes in the sand, but I said NO...I didn't want sand in the plane. Sigh.

I'm thinking that Ed's just having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that he's turned Hayden loose in the world, and that our "children" don't always go through life exactly as we may have envisioned for them!

Hayden Works RDU Tower

Hayden toured and worked a few planes at RDU tower. They were going to pay him...but I told him he had to give the money back. That made him MAD!!!!!

One of the controllers said that he even tried to hit on a female pilot landing at Raleigh. "American 1122....Hey Baby....Wanna come visit me in the tower?"

Then later that night we flew to GWW so I could remain night current. Hayden then decides that since he couldn't see GWW...that GWW would see Hayden. He mooned the airport when I was taxiing back to rwy 23. Talk about "Moon Shine!!!" Sigh.

Well I was going to pass him off to Dr. Gil, but he went coastal on me. Now I am going to see if Barb will make it near here. If so...he will go to her. AT least he got to see Kitty Hawk. OH yeah....feel free to fly down and pick him up. That goes for anybody.
