At my day job, it is very convenient to be able to write directly on the charts on the iPad and I do so a lot. When I write on an approach chart it is nice and smooth. Looks good. However, when I'm writing on the map view it's choppy, laggy, and looks terrible. Sometimes I have to purposely rewrite slower to make it legible, which is obviously not great.
At first I guessed it was a CPU performance issue, with more things being displayed on the map using more CPU cycles. But it even does the same thing when I turn off every option on the map view.
Interestingly, if I write on the approach chart and then send it to the map view, the writing stays smooth.
Any ideas? Does anybody else have the same issue? Hardware is an iPad Air 4, 256 GB, and an Apple Pencil 2. So the hardware is current.
Examples - nice and smooth:
Chunky (I wrote at about the same speed for both):
