Considering flying into KHAF and seeing if we can walk to some restaurants. I believe there are some restaurants south of the field, is that right?

It appears there are a couple of “taxiways to nowhere” down there. Is it permissible to park there when walking to the restaurants?

Yes, there are tie downs at the south end of the field and a gate in the fence. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance. There’s also a restaurant by the fuel pumps on the field.

There are transient tie downs on the apron by the “terminal” and self serve 100ll pumps

There’s a good cafe- pilot light- on the field, closes at 2pm. Kinda breakfast/lunch brunch sorta place, patronized by locals as well as pilots.
Numerous restaurant choices a short walk south- that area of half moon bay is known as “Princeton”
Can vouch for Seville tapas, and half moon bay brewing company, numerous other options close by.
Feel free to message if you have questions.
Be aware that the marine layer can come in fast and thick this time of year.
Enjoy!

Thanks! Any suggestions for a good seafood dinner place?

Probably going to stop by sometime this summer.

Sam’s chowder house has never let us down. About 3/4 of a mile walk from the south end.

Sam's Chowder House also has Web cams, as does the airport itself.

The SamCams show the final approach course to Rwy 30:

The airport cam shows the south half of the field:

The county has an airport information page:

Look at Goole Maps satellite view and you will see the tie down spots down at the south end of the field then you just pop though the pedestrian gate and you are right at the Harbor area with tons of restaurants and eateries...don't park at the terminal unless you are hitting the on field cafe...we did that on our first trip not knowing about the south parking area.

Still the best $100 hamburger run (or chowder in this case) airport on the west coast IMO.

I can't believe I missed this thread. Hands down my favorite restaurant is the Princeton Seafood Company, which is a short walk from the field opposite the harbor master building. But you can't go wrong with any of those places. In fact, if you go during prime crab season, you can buy crabs directly off the boats, and sometimes Princeton Seafood will operate an outdoor steamer and steam your crab for a small fee.

I see that there is now an on field restaurant again, looks to be a brunch place. If it's anything like the 30 Cafe used to be, I'd pass on it.

Unfortunately, Google says the Princeton Seafood company is “permanently closed”… :(

Well that sucks. It's been a while since I've been there.

It looks like a lot has changed. Barbara's Fish Trap is still there.
