Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,

I know of no reason

Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.

Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent
To blow up the King and Parli'ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below

To prove old England's overthrow;
By God's providence he was catch'd (or by God's mercy*)

With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holla boys, Holla boys, let the bells ring.

Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!

And what should we do with him? Burn him!

Happy Guy Fawkes Day

Guess I'll have to watch "V" tonight.

That's one movie I still need to get on DVD, although I may have missed that narrow window where it's $8 at WalMart.

Annual reminder. ;)

I just read up. A wanna know what kind of bang that stash would have made. Calling the Mythbusters!

I had no idea that the while we American guys and gals call every guy a guy, there once were no guys. It has to do with "guy" meaning a bad guy based on that bad guy named Guy, guys.

The mask has been popular before the OWS protests. Anonymous uses them in their protests of Scientology and has done so for a long time. But the article does get it right that it was the movie V the popularized the mask. I do not think that many Americans actually really know who and what Guy Fawkes did and stood for. I lived in England for a period of time and that is where I was originally exposed to the holiday and the poem that I used in my OP in this thread. I still work with a lot of people in the UK and visit there about once a year.

Scott, you do realize that you were the OP for this thread, right? ;)

Yes. why? You saw in my last post I even mentioned that I was the OP?

Proof that I've had too much coffee or not enough scotch. Nevermind! :)
