I got a call from the avionics shop telling me that the plane won't be ready tomorrow as planned. I was then expecting him to say I'd have to wait till Friday, but it turns out they need to re-order a special custom cable from Ryan for the TAS 610 and Ryan is so backlogged they can't make it until next week so next Wednesday is the new completion date. It sounds like they mismeasured and came up short. At least they didn't try to make it work without any slack! On the plus side their maintenance shop may dress my boots and buff some of the paint where it's gotten dull in the meantime, which is something I was thinking of doing or having done soon anyway. Sigh,:dunno:

Hopefully this is the only setback:fcross: and the weather gods will let me fetch it next Wednesday. And to be fair, tomorrow's expected completion was a bit more than 1.5 weeks into a 2-3 week original estimate.

Now that's a bummer. However, it does seem to be a common theme in aviation world.

While the unexpected delay may be inconveinence it is hardly a bummer. A bummer would be that they delivered the plane as scheduled and later, at a most inopportune time, you got a surprise because of faulty mx.

I'd much rather endure the additional wait if that meant knowing the shop had the integrity to do right. Besides, if they cut one corner you'll always be guessing what else.

I suspect y'all know that, I just thought it needed to said.

Yes, I am waiting for my new plane to come to me from the pre-buy mechanic. There were a handful of minor squawks, but when I went from pre-buy customer to maintenance customer, I went to the back of the line. Sigh.

Someday, probably years in the future, I'll get an aircraft back from a shop somewhere on the day they said I will.

I'll probably be so old by the time that happens, that the shock will trigger a major heart attack

Atta boy, Bob. Thanks for the laugh.

Yep... although I have to semi-agree with Richard. Only because things never seem to be 'perfect' the first time out. :)

I have a friend who is retired from over 50 years spent with Union Pacific. He is an excellent machinist and really knows his stuff. He doesn't like to fly but doesn't begrudge my passion to fly. Whenever talk gets around to my flying he always reminds me to check the jackscrew in the tail. Lance, check your jackscrew. I have a brakeman's oil can if you need it.:)
