I'm running Windows 7 and recent upgraded my Google Earth. For the life of me I can't get a shortcut on the desktop nor can I get the program to show up in my programs listing. Google Earth is indeed installed since I can click on a saved location and the program opens up. It also shows up in control panel "remove programs" Further I cannot find the executable anywhere on my hard drive :(

When I try to access "documents and settings" I get an access denied. I am the administrator :mad2:

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

When you click on the START button and find the program (you may have to click "all programs"), have you tried right clicking on the google earth menu item and selecting "send to" then "desktop"?

I recently got a windows 7 and am installing Google Earth now. I will see if it works for me.

ok. I installed it and it said it would come up shortly, and "if it doesn't start, click here". It didn't start even when I clicked there.

I installed it again. Same thing.

I navigated to: Local Disk (c:) --> Program Files (x86) -->Google --> Google Earth --> client

Then I found the executable "googleearth.exe" and was able to run it directly, and I was able to "right click" -->send to desktop. And I now have my shortcut on my desktop.

Sounds like it's possible that you didn't right click the original INSTALLER and select "Run as Administrator"...

I copied you and got the shortcut back---Thanks a million

Hey, while all you google earth experts are here, tell me why after the last upgrade I no longer can open pictures.

:) oops!

Mac OS/X 10.6.7

Google Earth 5.0.11337.1968 opens photos ok
Google Earth 6.0.3.2197 also opens photos ok

assuming you meant "open google earth photos" ?

Yep that's what I meant. After the last upgrade I get an icon and it gives a small amount of data but no picture. I guess I need to upgrade my OS which I have been avoiding and see if that fixes the problem. I love Google Earth and keep "adjusting" my dream X-ctry with it.
