So I'm in the process of relocating and that includes the airplane. She's going from her current base at KEAU to the new home at KUIN(Quincy).

I've nearly given up on finding a day when I'm not committed something else and the weather is nice all the way there. Tomorrow, so far, it looks like I'll have nice VFR conditions almost all the way in.... and the last little bit looks marginal at best. Might clear enough late in the afternoon or evening.... maybe.

Thinking maybe I should just go, get as far as I can, then sit and wait for it to get clear enough to finish the trip. The question is where do I want to get stuck should I need to spend a night or two?

I'm familiar with Macomb(MQB)... not so much the airport but the town as I went to school there. Not sure if anyone I know is around or the ground transport situation.... also may not get that far. I've got family in Galesburg.... again if I can make it far. That might lead to non-aviation issues trying to keep me there while I'm trying to get my plane moved though.... and I'm unsure if they're around.

My route is pretty close to the Mississippi river the whole way down if that helps. Just wondering if anyone new of an absolutely awesome place to strand yourself at in the general area.

You are moving to KUIN? Hell, move a little farther and you can have some BBQ :)

If that's in KIXD where your location is, that looks like it's a nice distance for a $100 bbq run.

Also have a friend at K15 (Osage Beach) who I'll be dropping in on a lot for fishing trips I expect.

I'd imagine Moline is #1 on the list due to size of city/airport and amenities.
Macomb's out in the boonies (town and airport) with limited aircraft services.
Galesburg is a good option. Jet Air has full maintenance/avionics capabilities, a nice crew lounge, and courtesy car. Usually sleepy for a once towered field.
Jet Air has the FBO at Burlington as well.

Quincy is a nice airport. I think the diner is back open.
Always interesting to see what jets Air USA has sitting outside. Its not everyday you taxi by 2 Mig 29's!

I have been thinking about flying over there some day and checking out Air USA and the Mane Runway Restaurant. Does anyone know if the food is any good?
