GO PATRIOTS!!!!!!!!

The judge noted that there was no way that Brady could have known he was subject to suspension for not cooperating with the 'investigation' and for being 'generally aware' of misconduct by the patriot's staff.
I agree with the idea that if Brady were merely just aware of some misconduct, it would be a stretch to punish him. What I think the NFL's advocates have done a poor job of doing is emphasizing the fact that, based on their knowledge of the industry, it is inconceivable that the employees would have done so without Brady's instruction to do so. I think that is what drove their decision making, but they have been afraid to articulate that. In essence they should have told the federal judge is: "We are knowledgeable in the industry, and our expertise (which you don't have, by the way, Judge) in how football franchises operate, particularly with respect to allegedly (my word, not Godell's) hall of fame level quarterbacks, is that nothing happens to the balls without the QB's say-so. Consequently, we are entitled to reach the reasonable conclusion that Brady not just knew, but ordered this to happen. That's why we sanctioned him. And you, in your federal court, are not in a better position to review the facts and conclude otherwise. Just as the Court of Appeals defers to your fact finding, so should you to ours."

Brady has missed days and days of practice and his usual focus is interrupted dealing with this farce. Don't worry, Brady will be back, as good as ever.

Sweet. No excuses if they lose then.

Brady is one of the very best quarterbacks to ever play the game. This is not only my opinion but that of most of his peers. I don't think he could have been beaten that day regardless of who did what. We have flacco here in baltimore. He could not carry water for Brady or....of course.....John Unitas.
Then why did he feel he had to cheat?

Like I said earlier - if there had been no spygate, this would have never happened. Everything the Patriots touch now is tainted.

so your position is that judges are always right.

Nope, my position is that Brady didn't cheat and the NFL had absolutely no case, the judge reaffirmed the no case part.

Time for Roger Goodell to retire.

On this I think we could all agree. He seems to have lost all control of the league.

I honestly think he's lost his edge and is trying to regain it by abusing the labor agreement.

Not true. Read the opinion again.

FIFY. Anymore, I'm beginning to think the NFL is nothing but scripted entertainment, like WWE, etc.

I'm very unenamored with football at all levels. The stories and incidents in the last week alone....

2 high school players targeted the refs for injury
1 college player broken collarbone after a hard hit by a very large linebacker (linebacker playing for a school that pays NFL-type salaries to head coach & is one of top recruiting schools in country). Academics, shackademics.
1 story about the Pats, the NFL, and the Commissioner that is unflattering at best

So yeah, scripted entertainment? Or worse?

This whole Brady deflategate, and Bellechick spygate, etc has created a huge soap opera atmosphere for the NFL. I am sure it will help ratings, which is why Goodell won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

Go STEELERS!!

Yeah, that didn't work out too well for the Steelers. Great game, Brady looked sharp. Thomlin whined like a wuss afterward about the headsets and how the Patriots now control the radio spectrum.

One down, 15 to go on the way to the playoffs.

Yeah, like I said, Patriots are so powerful they control the radio spectrum.

Sore losers, emphasis on losers.

It has nothing to do with being sore losers. The Patriots have been involved in several controversies now surrounding allegations of cheating (and now, possible felonies). Was the issue with the headsets a result of the Patriots purposely trying to cheat? The answer doesn't actually matter because of the timing of this in relation to everything else. It's the perception. As for the game itself, I think it was a lot closer than it looked. The Steelers defense needs some work. Not covering the NFL's best tight end isn't exactly a recipe for success.

I can't say I really care about the Patriots, anymore than I care about the Colts, but the professional Game of Football keeps taking big hits.
The 'roid scandals were bad, but boy will be boys, and a chemical enhancement, however temporary, or destructive, was a personal choice. When the league was outed refusing to help former players with football caused career ending conditions, along with their blind eye about concussions, many people started to wonder about the league. Now that Goodell has made a farce out of enforcement on something as damaging as cheating, it sends a whole new message about the integrity of the game.

Yeah, like I said, Patriots are so powerful they control the radio spectrum.

You're right. It's impossible to interfere with radio signals.

Of course, this isn't the first time there have been allegations as a result of odd radio interference at key moments that only occurs to visitors at Gillette stadium. I don't know squat about the facts on the ground, but personally, I put this in the "reap what you sow" category.

More cheating. Now they are disrutping the opponents' head sets???

Brady, and Bellechick should get a blanket party from the opposing teams.

Sounds like CTAF in your headset. They just need to figure out how to deal with it. Maybe like this : "Running a post pattern, any defenders in the area please advise."

I think that's pretty much how the Steelers handled it.

Just remember that Tomlin stood on the field once to try to stop a player from scoring. He should be the last person to call out others for cheating.

I've forgotten, what was the punishment for that?

I'm asking because that could be a precedent for punishment for cheating in an NFL game. Aside from the fact that it was a coach rather than a union-protected player, maybe that was a better precedent than steroid use, which the NFL cited when issuing the four game suspension to Brady.

I think it was $100,000. Really I think that's worse than possibly altering balls a few psi.

The fascinating thing in the ESPN article was how fast NFL closed ranks when a Senator wanted to crack open the curtain and peek inside.
